Small Beneath the Stars

Small Beneath the Stars

And he, so lone, grew small beneath the stars,
Wherein earth hands did greet young petals green.
"Heal me," he spoke, "and soothe my wounds and scars
That left so quick a trail on hearts unseen."

But, nay, his eyes, his veins, they bled red tears.
And so, the sky, so blue, said thus, "Weep not,
For I will cry for you and all your fears,
For all your tears and years that you see not."

"But Father Sky, you are so far from here,
So dark and faded gray in silent dearth;
For you, this sorrow mine is much too near.
Below I am, beside my Mother Earth."

A bed he sat upon of eyes so blue,
A girl he kissed but once, and once so true.
