It is my sad obligation, in accordance with prior agreements set upon in good faith, to inform you of the loss of the person heretofor assigned the investigation of Certain Matters Most Untoward. Several days have passed since the Fell Requirement was placed upon him, with no word of he or his findings. The person is presently assumed Lost, and with your permission, investigation will continue into both the Matter at hand, and the whereabouts of the person in question, lest it comes that he has fallen victim of Foul Play. Given the urgency of this and other Matters, I have assumed your permission to be granted, and investigation continues; I welcome your confirmation, and trust that my words find you in good health meantime.
