The Death of a Marshal.

The Death of a Marshal.

Once again, they're waking up the Governor at an absurd hour because of Renea Sundance.

This time, however, there are no bells; there is just a note, brought by the Governor's guard.

Glenn,

Reneya is dead, slain in the Broken Dagger to-nighte. I sent the Docter to Egsamine her body, but from what i know the merderer is a Drow. The only witnes is the boy who lives at the mill, he said he saw a Drow with Black armor come in Qwick to the Tavern so it sounds like a profeshunal killer. I want to say it sownds like Jiraye but the Boy did not see a Cross-Bow. Her body should be at the Rem -- the Remem -- the hospitul by now.

Lets kill them all.

Agnie.

And as for Agnie, she'd show up at Aleksei's, holding the bloody dagger in a cloth, completely serious when she tells him not "hello" or "good evening," but tears in her eyes and a "Can you tell who owns this, somehow?" on her lips.

A note would arrive back to Agnieska, though whether or not it reached her before she saw Aleksei was anyone's guess.

Dearest Agnieszka,

We never go to war over the actions of Jirai. Never. That said, I have my doubts. The Constabulary will investigate. Meanwhile, I need you to keep the militia calm and orderly until we can figure out what to do about a Marshall. I figured she'd be the first to die. Still, if you see him first, make sure to ask Aleksei about her lack of a soul and the magical changes that happened to her and what not. There's been so much mucking with her that I don't want any nasty surprises.

Do try to stay alive.

Aleksei opened the door with a blink. Really, with all the man was dealing with, he should be sleeping at that hour. But he was up. Books splayed out, and that damnable map still on the wall. A hand moves to her shoulder to guide her inside as he tries to get his bearings. "I.. don't know? I'm not that kind of magic user, Agnie." He gives a little sigh and moves to take it from her before he trips and stabs herself somehow.

"Care to fill me in on what happened..?" He's more concerned over her state of mind than anything right now. Last thing he, or anyone, needed to have to deal with was Agnie running off for vengeance.

"Renea died. Killed by a drow earlier tonight at the Dagger. It sounded like an assassination to me." Her voice is broken; but once he says he can't help, she snatches it back, careful to not disturb the drying blood. "I -- I have to take this to the constables first, then, but I thought you might be able to tell." A pause, and a helpless shake of her head. "Aleksei, I was -- I was five minutes late. I saw the killer flee. If I hadn't dawdled --"

Her mouth closes and she adopts a firm line, stepping back out into the street. "Gotta go to the constables."

He just watches her for a second, and takes a deep breath. Renea dead. That's.. going to go less than well. He swallows and considers for a moment. He can try and stop her, make her stay here.. or. No, better option than to start a fight. He reaches around to the hook next to the door and grabs his cloak, tossing it over his shoulders before stepping out with her, locking the door behind him. "Let's go. Then you can come back and tell me what you know, and we can try and figure this out. Alright?"

He glances at her, and chews on his bottom lip for a moment then just follows her.
