Care and caution had been taken on this occassion. There were, by technical accounts, only four Councillors in office currently. However a bit of research ensured that there would be a need for about ten couriers. Kilborn had a few others that needed to be notified. Bromn, once he'd been found, Guillaume, O'Cynen, Phuri, even if he was an imposter, Avarante, Prince Taliaferro, Duke Burel, Captain Daniels, out of courtesy and to ensure he was informed, the Magistrate, and the Council Secretary as well.

Unlike typical messages which was written, Kilborn chose to avoid that on this occassion. Written missives had a tendency of falling into the wrong hands, or be left lying about for others to read and pass on later. So on this occassion, being somewhat concerned about security, the information was sent by verbal messengers. People with accute memory and capable of repeating words from memory. People, additionally, that Kilborn trusted.

To the Councillors of Myrken Wood, their officials, and select foreign dignitaries;

To ensure the safety and productivity of the Council, and their meetings, a special force of guardsmen will be placed on the street during any meeting, public or private, in which the council engages. This is a direct effort to curtail violent protestations, and to permit the council to work in peace and security, without interruption from those who would sidetrack their focus. A force that will deter the gathering of mobs and gatherings of large and dubious nature.

Furthermore, due to a shortages of men and women, it is the regret of the Order of Straka, that individual or groups of body guards can not be supplied to Councillors or Governors. Further requests in this matter will be denied, and all current men so engaged, will be returned to their regular patrols.

Any councillor or official believing their life to be in mortal peril, will as always, be permitted to seek safety within the Headquarters of the Order of Straka, and be protected from the comforts therein, until such a time as obvious danger has passed.

I, Giscard Guillaume, Lord of Lothbury Estate, Councilor of the Myrken Wood Judiciary In Regards To Commerce and Trade Etc., to our Thomas Daniels, Captain of the Myrken Wood Guard, Order of Straka Etc.: Greetings. In the first it is my wish to extend thanks for the foresight shown in regards to the guarding of our streets; I anticipate no less than a fortnight of considerable turbulence, the moreso given recent disastrous events and the approach of the Inquisition. In the second, I wish to offer my hope that the inquiry regarding the vanishment of our good Councilor Altias Bromn proceeds well and with haste -- or, indeed, that it proceeds at all. We have lost a Governor and a Councilor during this last fortnight, and may have lost a second in Bromn, and this bodes poorly indeed for the Government of our beloved town. In the light of this, I suggest that you reconsider your decision regarding the providence of guards for the protection of Councilor O'Cynen; I myself have all faith in my retainers, but our good O'Cynen enjoys no such luxury. It would be a fell blow to Myrken Wood indeed, were we to lose him as well.

In reply to Giscard Guillaume, Councilor of the Myrken Wood Judiciary In Regards To Commerce and Trade Etc.:

The investigation concerning the abductions of the governor and the councilor is indeed going, if somewhat slowly. I've been persuing some leads which may prove quite promising given some time. I can't imagine such a feat can be pulled off without witness, and I hear that there were more than just Alexander Kanashia and Altias Bromn that were abducted.

Concering Joseph O'Cynen:
I have, actually, continued to station guards with the councilor. He has refused to take refuge at the headquarters, and with the Baie's apparent confession of interest in the councilor, I want to take no chances. There has been, since the massacre, no sign of the monster - but there never is before it strikes. I can only hope we'll be ready for it next time.

I'm still working on that miracle.

It was sugar coated, the letter. He was following up on leads, that was true - but there wasn't much hope at all they'd turn up much, unless whoever had done the job was sloppy. But the captain believed it when he said that it couldn't be done without witness; now all Thomas had to do was find them.
