To the Councilors - Regarding the Orphanage

To the Councilors - Regarding the Orphanage

Postby SinVraal » Tue Jun 05, 2007 6:53 am

Esteemed Councilors,

I have met with Councilor Alosious Treadwell concerning the location and quality of any such orphanage as I may be granted permission to construct. Concerning location, I have discovered an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of Myrkentown that would work quite nicely following sufficient and serious interior renovations to allow for sleeping quarters, a pantry, kitchen, hearths and chimneys and accommodations for staff. Such a project would also bring more money to Myrken Wood and also provide employment opportunities for its citizenry.

I have also recently made contact with several of the craftsmen in Myrkentown proper and can promise that not only will the children be protected, but they will also be apprenticed to local craftsmen in order to build into the future of Myrken Wood.

Should I prove derelict in my duties in this regard, should this project come to pass, may I be held responsible to the entire community and not be spared the due course of justice.

Is there anything else I should be aware of in order to prepare for my possible future service to the community?

Sincerely,
Sin'Vraal
If you are near to the dark
I will tell you about the sun
You are here, no escape
From my visions of the world
You will cry, all alone
But it does not mean a thing to me...

The reply came swiftly.

[indent]To Mr. Sin'Vraal:

Salve, Mr. Sin'Vraal. Good health and fortune to you.

I have never met you nor ever spoken to you, therefore I do not know you; thus I am unable to make an accurate assessment of your worth and character. These reasons alone will deny you any support from me or mine. Forgive my cynicism, but due to recent (and former) circumstances I have developed an inherent distrust of strangers to Myrken Wood claiming to want to aid us.

As a result, I will withhold my judgement on the matter until the entire Council has gathered to discuss it and reached a decision.

You, Mr. Sin'Vraal, may in fact be a samaritan; you may also be true to your word. Again: I do not know you, therefore I cannot say. But as you are surely aware of, actions, deeds -- these speak louder than any words.

I have yet to hear your name connected to anything but mystery.

Sincerely,
Aston Jylan Aldred
Lord of Aldred
Councilor of Defence & Civil Security

Esteemed Councilors,

It has been some time since I first forwarded my concern regarding the children of this land. It has also been some time since I have met with Councilor Treadwell to ensure that the construction site and necessary modifications to the serviceable structure are up to legal standards.

I have also learned that it has been a considerable amount of time since your own meeting house has been put to the flame and has not yet been restored. I do not expect you to respond with the once, communal voice required of you by your stations. It is a sad, pitiable state of affairs.

Having said that, with Councilor Treadwell's seeming permission, Councilor Aldred's denial, and the other councilors' lack of response at all - I am left with no choice but to act for the betterment of the community as I have been left with only silence.

Now I leave you with my response. The orphanage will be built. When you have bothered to restore your own symbol of power, which sits in the center of this beleaguered town, then we may discuss the orphanage with something resembling even footing.

To Mr. Sin'Vraal:

Salve, Mr. Sin'Vraal.

Your disdain for the local government and Myrkentown itself has been made manifest by your latest letter; therefore I shall spare you the courtesy I displayed in my previous response.

Should you proceed to build this orphanage without the approval of the
entire Council, you and any other persons involved in the funding and/or construction will be detained by the Constabulary for questioning.

Copies of these letters -- specifically, your first and second letters and my respective replies -- have been forwarded to the Governor, the other Councilors and the High Constable, as well as Marshal Karolinger.

A good day to you, Mr. Sin'Vraal.

Sincerely,
Aston Jylan Aldred
