The gauntlet is cast...

The gauntlet is cast...

As the Dark Hunter slips from the tavern, having left his message scrawled across the wall and implanted into the heard and mind of that wretched woman, Lokelei, the shadows that had spawned him, accept him once more.

Immediately he is transported to a new place, a place that he had made for himself when first arriving to these lands. It was but naught a small hovel deep within the woods, hidden from the prying eyes of those who'd ask too many questions, or stop him in his mad quest. Many lives unnecessarily would be lost if too many found this place and interrupted his righteous mission.

Though, the man, if that's what he could be called anymore, does enter the pitiful shack, but rather strikes a path for the top of the hill his temporary home was on the side of. With endurance and speed that weren't quite human, he makes it to the peak and there clearing of trees that are found there. From this spot atop the hill, he could spy out across a large swath of land, which included in the distance, the village of Myrken Wood and the tavern, Broken Dagger.

Both places falled under his own jurisdiction now, an authority no one but himself had given. And standing there, in the chilled night air, he would merely gaze out impassively from behind those dark glasses he wore, any thoughts or feelings completely hidden by an impassive and seemingly impenetrable mask expression.

There may be no vampiric infestation that needed to be culled here, but there *was* a reason for him to have been drawn here, and that reason was apparent not a few moments after he visited the loathsome Tavern. A darkness was here, a darkness so thick it choked out all light, a darkness possibly so vile that decent people who tried to make a living through common means didn't venture out at night, fear they'd never make it home again.

It was a darkness that bred the man now atop a tall hill, gazing out across the night landscape. It was a darkness he now fights, either out of shame, or anger, or perhaps even guilt. No matter the reason he wages an unending battle against the tide that would threaten to consume this world and those undeserving such a fate.

And even more importantly... He was GOOD at it.

Taking a sharp breath, the Hunter raises his chin slightly, and the decision was made.

Without a word he slowly and confidently made his way into the night, a night lesser beings would fear to venture. Time to get to work.

Carlsburg was indeed back.
