Cracking Down on Myrken Wood

Cracking Down on Myrken Wood

What with the recent death(s) and strange things seen in the sky, the Order of Straka would be cracking down on Myrkentown. Or, rather, the outskirts of Myrkentown - patrols of four or more would be scouring the forest every so often in search of any demonic creature, summoner, or anything else with dark shadows over evil glowing red eyes.

This would include the outlying farms, though more so the forest and the lake. Even, on occasion, the caves underneath Myrken Wood that lead from the forest under the town up into the lake.

Many guardsfolk would be armed with ranged weaponry as well as their swords, as well.

Even Captain Thomas Daniels could be found out on patrol.

All of this would prove rather irritating to a certain woman. She would watch the patrols carefully, especially as they ventured into caverns beneath the ground. Thus far, she had managed to keep her various caches and holes hidden, but continuing to do so would take more time and effort now.

Thinking Smarter, Not Harder

When Captain Thomas Daniels had returned from burying the dead, he went straight to action - anybody that could be found in the Barracks was called to gather in order to expedite the orders the captain wanted to get passed around - written orders would come soon after, but this was a means to get things moving and changed quick.

"If you haven't heard yet," Thomas spoke, addressing the crowd. "Several of our own were recently found killed in the forest."

This would naturally cause a varying stir among those gathered, including some worried glances of friends wondering why they hadn't seen their pals in a few days. They would all have the names soon enough, but Thomas spared them that for the time being - it would only serve as a distraction.

"So a little change needs to happen. First things first, I want all the patrols pulled from the forest and other seclusive areas - any of the fringe areas that are particularly dangerous to the uniform. I want the forest especially to be treated as hostile territory until deemed otherwise." His 'wants' were naturally directed at the individuals gathered who were higher in rank, and held some charge over certain patrols or areas.

"I also want patrols scattered and switched up." A couple quick-minded sergeants groaned at this, knowing what it meant. "I don't want our patrols to have a pattern. Make it so that anybody watching won't know when the next patrol is coming, or where; every day, make a new schedule - I know this will be more paperwork for some of you, but you're just going to have to deal with it. Also, I'm going to make sure people are moved around so nobody is on the same route for long - there's no room for getting docile anymore, folks. People are dying out there."

There was a small degree of adminitration issues to follow, at the end of which the captain dismissed the group with a word of advice: "All right ladies and gentlement, let's get moving. Remember to always keep your eyes up and please stay alert."
