Description
Marta appears as an elderly woman, white-haired and portly, in an endless state of advanced pregnancy. She wears a loose, white gown, and she stays attended by assorted maidens in her realm of soft, white clouds. A single bed, large and equally white, is her primary place of residence in her land. She is usually serious and sober, although she does have a slightly mischievous streak inherited by her son, Libri.
Mythos Details
Marta is in the same pantheon as The Creator, The Glutton, Libri, and various others that often tie into worship and study by those of the Church of Tubbius. Initially, she was created shortly after The Glutton, designed to serve a dual role: one, as his wife, and two, as both fertility goddess and mother figure that shares in simultaneous baby growth and childbirth for the faithful who would accept her as such. However, worship of Marta never truly caught on; she was often seen as a side element of Tubbian worship, instead, with the Tubbian followers mistakenly viewing her as the wife of the growth and harvest god Tubbius. After her near dissolution due to lack of remaining faithful followers in 212 AR, her entirety was absorbed into that of her husband, with The Glutton thus seeing her replaced from being an independent goddess to being a facet of his own being. Doing so led to a small resurgence of believers, at least among the Tubbians, and may slowly expand into other faiths.
As of February 222, Marta has been, along with Tubbius and Porcus, divinely set free from being connected to the Glutton. How this will impact followers of her own faith, without the Glutton's sadistic and insidious pull behind the scenes, is as of yet unrevealed, but the Mother Goddess will certainly begin coming into her own once more as time passes.

Origins
Among the gods and goddesses of The Creator's pantheon, Marta was an early creation out of necessity; as a counterpart to her husband The Great Slug, she serves as an emphasis on life and birth to contrast his destructive tendencies.

Marta will never appear bodily in The Broken Dagger; she has too many responsibilities of her own to interfere daily with human life in person.
The Present
Marta, formerly a portion of The Glutton, now lives independently of him and his desires.

The Mother Goddess has not been involved in any ongoing plots in Myrken Wood but is frequently a product of worship by Aloisius Treadwell and the Church of Tubbius alongside Tubbius and Porcus.
