Description
Lewa stands 6' 4" tall, which is average for females of her kind, and is rather quite curvaceous. Over the years, she has developed a habit of standing on her tiptoes when in an unfamiliar place, ostensibly to get a better view of her surroundings. She prefers a style of robes peculiar to scholars in her homeland, and favors green and teal clothes over other colors; additionally, she sometimes adds a beret-like cap with a veil when outside, and/or an ornately-decorated green, black, and gold umbrella in adverse weather. Lewa is a very curious woman, and prefers to settle disputes with words (or telepathy, as the case may be) rather than a fight. Her voice is mezzosoprano, and usually lilting and musical, given that her kind possess the same vocal organ as birds, instead of the kind found in other humanoids.
Background
Origins
Lewa was born in Qalani, the capital of the Maritime Republic of Safiria, to Tulēima Vanar, a thirteenth-generation clockmaker and artificer, and Īliai Nissa, an ecclesiast, or legislator. She studied the liberal arts, as well as philology and diplomacy, at the University of the Republic, and upon being conferred the title of Master of Arts in 130 AR, was appointed to the corps of judges and arbitrators. In her sixty-five-year career as a lay judge, she oversaw a number of key cases, and handed down a decision, controversial to this day, outlawing slavery in the Maritime Republic. A few months after rendering this decision, she was suddenly moved from the judicial corps to the diplomatic — a move which was seen as a method of quietly shuffling her out of the public eye — and has served as a minor diplomat or functionary in a number of missions over the past twenty years. It was on one of these missions that she met Lèikan Vanavè, and the two women became mated about a year afterward.
The Broken Dagger
Lewa was sent on a mission to open relations and trade with the Kingdom of Trae Kelsa in May 215, with orders to land in the nearest Trae Kelsan landmass to Safiria, that being the Myrken Wood.
