Fick's Farm
Native Myrken grower, Templor Fick, runs a twenty-five acre farm just outside of Myrken Wood, close to the northern trade route. He employs only family to sew, care and cultivate an extensive corn crop.
Buildings
The Fick's homestead is a modest structure which has seen better days. The main house was created for a family of smaller proportions, but the Ficks find they have room enough for their seven children, maternal parents, 'the aunts' and a boarder.
The property's outbuildings include stables, a tack shed, a hay barn, a garden shack, twin corn cribs, and three filled shacks that are packed with the family's lost trinkets and toys, items meant to be discarded of that never quite made it off the property, and farm equipment that has been forgotten for its disrepair - likely there are wild animals living in these overflowing sheds of historic, family bramble.
Agriculture
The Fick's care for several gardens, most of which serve the family with herbs and vegetables. Their contribution to Myrken Wood comes from eighteen streaming acres of corn. Two hundred bushels are expertly produced and stored, if the Ficks have a good year.
Responsibility
On Market days, the Ficks bring along corn with the overflow of their seasonal vegetables, and at times, some of the Fick women's confections. The family members trade whose turn it is to stand in Myrkentown Centre on a given week. You'll get your best bargain from youngster Lyle Fick, especially if you have a nice smile and happen to be female.
Of the several Fick children, and grandchildren, the only not related to farming is a daughter (still living at home) named Pemberton. The family will proudly tell you is the Council Secretary. Everyone else is involved in the planning and maintenance of the Fick's leveled landscape, which runs perpendicular to the trade route to Foggy Bottom.
Specialties
Autumns on the Fick Farm are fun for bringing the family, as a great maze is cut into the harvested corn field, and visiting folks are welcomed to come by and experience this one-of-a-kind walk. At the end of the maze is a cup of homemade cider and some lively conversation.
