Glenn Burnie
Some people take immediately to Myrken Wood's atmosphere of danger, demons, and disagreements. Glenn Burnie, mapmaker and little else, is not one of them.
Appearance
There's not particularly much to Glenn. He is perfectly forgettable to look at, a fact that has allowed for his survival more than once. His height is just shorter than average, his weight just lighter. Black hair sits upon his head almost always managing to be both short and unkempt, a feat unto itself. He looks somewhere between twenty and twenty-three years old, and if asked, he might reply, after a pause, that he was born just over twenty years ago. Despite that statement, most assuredly true, though carefully worded, there is a definite youthfulness to his movements and body language and yet a weathered look to be found by any looking into his grey eyes. There may be a reason for that. If one was to take a good look at his skin, at his body, one would find the hints of many small, randomly placed, scars and healed bones. As they are hidden under his clothes, no one has inquired about them so far.
Glenn dresses in a rather relaxed way, very pratical with little sense for fashion. He leans towards hearty fabrics yet ones of some quality, the latter possibly having something to do with his upbringing. He's generally dressed in a way that he could travel at any time, something that might make sense considering his profession and the amount of walking that goes along with it. At almost all times, he either carries with him the long, cyllindrical, ornate container for parchment in which he keeps his work or the sturdy walking stick made for him by Aloisius Treadwell. Ever since his work has picked up, Glenn has begun to carry around a pack instead of the container, somewhat surprising considering it was never off of his person until recently.
As of late, Glenn is slowly but surely starting to build muscle mass by working in the fields with the Shepherd Knights of the Silver Staff nominally in order to cover his room and board at their chapter house.
Origin
Ha, no. Not hardly. Not yet.
Currently
Glenn has, surprisingly enough, dug his heels in and settled in Myrken Wood. He currently resides with the Shepherd Knights of the Silver Staff though he also rents a very small room in town. When it has not been pilfered by wayward squires, Glenn uses a borrowed horse, Bernard, to travel back and forth between Town and the Chapter House. He is currently employed by Malaroth Deucalios to map the area around the Chapter House for the Knights. He is also on retainer with the Brotherhood of Janeiro to improve their maps of the farmland near Myrkentown. Finally, he occasionally serves as a consultant for the Myrkentown Constabulary when need of a mapmaker arises. He will, assuredly, be killed at some point for holding such conflicted professional loyalty.
Most evenings he can be found at the Broken Dagger, despite himself, drinking either ale, the hardly overrated Derry Red variety of wine, or Cider, the last only if he had recently made a drunken fool of himself. He will often be seen chumming around with his good friend Alastir Savoy or trying to get Seth Bloodmoon to do something other than brood while the two share a drink.
During the day, if Glenn is not at work, he may be found taking in a free meal at Tready's Toys or exasperatedly combing through tomes in the Library of Mudd. It was this penchant for research, being one of the few useful tasks Glenn can manage in helping his friends against various and sundry Myrken things that go bump in the night, that has led him to become something of an expert on Teron Ashfiend. Due to this uncharacteristically suicidal effort, he has encountered the Fiend numerous times, somehow managing to survive each inquisitive encounter.
His current passion and pride is the time he spends every morning training in the use of a rapier under the watchful eye of Ariane Carnath-Emory. This pride, and a good deal of baggage which has nothing to do with him, has led Glenn into a begrudging, antagonistic relationship with Agnieszka Kaczmarek. It was "Agony's" initial hazing that has prompted Glenn to take his lessons seriously and to find ways to fight back against Myrken and fate itself, a sharp difference in attitude from the last eight years of his life. Despite that, and much because of the indirect intercedence of Rhaena Olwak (someone whom Glenn has been spending an increasing amount of time with at the Dagger), the two of them have come into an agreement of mutual tolerance, one that might even blossom into a friendship. As a last note, if anyone asks Glenn about his training, he will simply mumble the word "discretion;" really, it's best not to ask.
