D'ran

D'ran is a guard of the Broken Dagger. He is most often on-duty in the late evening, and can usually be found on either side of the bar. He is the only guard that also lives at the tavern.

Appearance

D'ran stands approximately 6'2" high, and has an athletic build. He has short blond hair, green eyes, and features that some might consider ruggedly handsome, although he would never make such a claim himself.

His leather boots, gloves (rarely worn), and belt are well-worn with years of use, but careful maintenance has kept them in relatively good condition.

Background

Virtually nothing is known of D'ran's history before he came to Myrken Wood. Shortly after arriving at the Broken Dagger, he was tested and hired by Mikhail to guard the tavern and ensure the safety of its patrons and staff. He takes his job very seriously, even to the point of surrendering himself to a party of invading drow.

Recent Activities

After finally revealing to Cinjin what had happened during his forced visit to the drow stronghold, D'ran's mind and spirit seem to be on the mend. He is much more himself now, and has returned to performing his guard duties on a regular basis.

However, he has new and conspicuous physical injuries. During a confrontation with the Nightmare Company, the minotaur Choss carved the letters NC into his face. He wears two bandanas over his face to keep away insects from the healing cuts. He's rather self-conscious about the whole ordeal.

Also, inspired by Janis Williams and her efforts at understanding shadow-walking, D'ran has installed numerous lanterns and candles in and around the Broken Dagger with the purpose of eliminating shadows, ultimately inhibiting the use of shadow-walking for entering the tavern. The lanterns and candles are kept constantly lit, but have been extinguished by unknown causes on occasion, much to D'ran's frustration.
