Born in Derry, Holly quite expected to live her entire life in that province. War changed many things though, and Holly was among the refugees who came pouring into Myrken Wood from war-torn Derry.

'''Niall''' is a young woman. She looks to be in her late teens. Not the most attractive girl to begin with, her appearance is not enhanced by the scars that track down the left side of her face. Her hair is an odd color - brown, for the most part, but it fades to ivory at its tips.

She is almost always clothed the same way - sturdy trousers over a pair of boots, a linen shirt with a leather vest. Her hands and neck, when not hidden by gloves and scarf, are marked with blue tattoos, a complex design of interconnected runes that fuel the young sorceress' magic.

Rather sullen and taciturn by nature, the girl lives with the mage [[Kyra]]. Originally from related but warring tribes, the relationship between the two was founded in fear and threats from the older to the younger, but has since grown into something more.

Her closest relationship is clearly with [[Elliot Brown]]. The two have been friends since shortly after Niall's arrival in Myrken Wood, the boy being one of the few willing to tolerate Niall's strange ways. The change from Elliot Brown to Elliot Gahald, created by the mindwitch [[Rhaena Olwak]], was traumatizing for Niall. She tried many ways to undo what the mindwitch had wrought, even going so far as to entrust her life and body to [[Whelp]]'s It. The demon kept Niall safe even while her body was killed by [[Cherny]] in a ruse to try and jolt Elliot back to his true self. This attempt failed as all others had.

Since then, Niall has recovered slowly - physically, at least. Demoralized, she has chosen to travel with the northerner Jarek Gora.

Rhaena Olwak, [[Glenn Burnie]]'s wife, began as a simple trader. After arriving in Myrken with her brother, [[Kals Olwak]], she went through several misadventures while learning to use her own powers over the minds of others. This, however, only led her into more trouble. Despite it all, she worked to make Myrken a better place, creating the Foundation to aid the needy and starting a school for all children.

=== Reign of the Mindwitch ===

Encounters with drow, the Dreamwaker, and Catch all served to eventually drive Rhaena into madness. Rhaena effectively seized control of Myrken from Glenn Burnie and set about making the town into her own version of what it should be. She meddled widely in the minds of others, some to small degrees and some to large. She twisted her best friend, [[Agnieszka]] into supporting her, but went even farther with [[Ariane Emory]] and [[Elliot Brown]]. Ever thorns in her side, Rhaena effectively erased them from existence, replacing them with personalities she preferred. This awakened Glenn Burnie to what she was doing and he tried to stop her. His interference allowed Ariane, at least, to recover from Rhaena's attack. The Governor, however, was imprisoned in [[Golben]].

One day, the entire town found itself in confusion. Some magic had swept across the land, erasing the memory of the past several hours from those in its path. In the aftermath of this, the body of Rhaena Olwak was discovered in her own home, with Ariane Emory and Agnieszka River standing over it, both with no memory of what had happened.

'''Niall''' is a young woman. She looks to be in her late teens. Not the most attractive girl to begin with, her appearance is not enhanced by the scars that track down the left side of her face. Her hair is an odd color - brown, for the most part, but it fades to ivory at its tips.

She is almost always clothed the same way - sturdy trousers over a pair of boots, a linen shirt with a leather vest. Her hands and neck, when not hidden by gloves and scarf, are marked with blue tattoos, a complex design of interconnected runes that fuel the young sorceress' magic.

Rather sullen and taciturn by nature, the girl lives with the mage [[Kyra]]. Originally from related but warring tribes, the relationship between the two was founded in fear and threats from the older to the younger, but has since grown into something more.

Her closest relationship is clearly with [[Elliot Brown]]. The two have been friends since shortly after Niall's arrival in Myrken Wood, the boy being one of the few willing to tolerate Niall's strange ways. Niall's fierce devotion to the young man is quite apparent these days.

She is also occasionally seen in the company of [[Tebrin]] and has lately shown a clear interest in the newcomer Whelp and Whelp's darker side.

One day, the grubby urchin simply appeared at the tavern. Skinny and dirty, with short-cropped blonde hair and large blue eyes, the child's gamble paid off, both literally with the dragons Drache and Syn providing the waif with coins and figuratively with Dulcie giving the child a job in the kitchens and a place to sleep. Since then, the urchin - in a cleaner state - has become a fixture around the tavern, constantly trying the patience of the kitchen staff with the child's obsession for turning anything long and pointy into a sword and pretending to be a knight. No longer hungry, the urchin is still willing to provide information in exchange for coins, which has proved fairly lucrative thus far.

If asked, Cat will lie outrageously and claim to be twelve years old. Eight would be a better guess, ten at the most.

Though Cat continues to work at the Tavern, the urchin has also been quietly (or not so quietly) spending time with [[Elliot Brown]] and [[Solena]].

Lex was first introduced to roleplay by a variety of media, ranging from Dungeons&Dragons boxed sets (complete with one (1) whole piece of grid paper for maps!), through text-based PC games and on to various nintendo games in which her dashing swashbuckler heroine was represented as rather underwhelming blob. Despite this sterling background, it took her over a year to discover the roleplaying channels on IRC's [[Dalnet]]. On the brighter side, however, the channel she did discover was #The_Laughing_Dragon, where she encountered [[Marauder]] and [[Falyar Tar'en]], was swiftly introduced to the ways of [[Free-Form|FFRP]], and never looked back.

== Progression ==

Several months of [[The Laughing Dragon (channel)|TLD]] were enough to addict [[Lex]] thoroughly to [[Free-Form|FFRP]], and so when she was invited to [[Darkshade Hall (channel)|#Darkshade_Hall]], she joined the fun there without hesitation. Over time, however, her first character -- [[Lilith_ KnightRain]] -- grew a little stale, and the time came (as it generally does) for a change. [[D'arcy Jones]] was born. A year of localised mourning followed.

Lex spent several years roleplaying at [[Darkshade Hall (channel)|#Darkshade_Hall]], as a regular player, an [[operator]], and as one of its [[founder]]'s occasional [[warlord]]s. It was only on the death of that founder, and the subsequent closure of the channel, that she moved (with several of its other core players) on to [[The Silver Blade Tavern (channel)|#The_Silver_Blade_Tavern]].

The less said about this period of time, the better -- except to note that some wonderful friendships were made, some emnity resolved, and that it was both a pleasure and a relief to finally move on. Circumstances led Lex to a brief sojourn in the [[All Trades Inn (channel)|#All_Trades_Inn]], where for a short time she enjoyed the honour of performing as a [[Weaver]] for the channel founder. But in time, she found her true home at [[Broken Dagger (channel)|#Broken_Dagger]], where she's been playing a new character -- [[Ariane Carnath-Emory]] -- ever since.

During her time at [[Broken Dagger (channel)|#Broken_Dagger]], Lex has served the channel as both [[operator]] and [[Co-Founder]], has had the honour of collaborating with [[Wendy]] in development of some of the [[setting]] material, and most recently has taken over maintenance of the channel's website, [[BrokenDagger.com]].

She's still figuring out this Wiki stuff, though. And just by the way: Sam Fisher? Totally dead. Kaput. Deceased.

'''Wendy''' is a published writer living in Central Virginia. Her [[role-playing]] experience helped to blossom her talent from the start in the original [[Broken Dagger (channel)|#Broken_Dagger]] back in 1995.

Her creation of everyday characters--tavern owner, [[Raegan]], her sister, [[Shannarah]], the barmaid [[Carys]] and [[Governor]] [[Gad Phuri]] helped to create a framework of "locals" in and around [[Broken Dagger (Inn)|the Dagger]]. Over time, the Dagger has grown to include many familiar faces, like the characters: [[Pritchard]], [[Jarek]], [[Quincy Randall|Quincy]], [[Burel Tassnehof]], [[Lenore]] and [[Ariane Carnath-Emory|Ariane]].

Melanie began her career in [[roleplaying]] here in the virtual world a very long time ago. 1994, if you really must know, in a faraway land known as [[Prodigy]]. A place where the roleplay was never as perfect as we remember and the Visa bill could very well kill you.

She began as a wandering swordswoman named [[DeathRose]] who was befriended by such long ago vets as [[Phoenix God]], [[Lord Xanth]], [[Tyge]] and [[Tia Wolf]]. Eventually it was discovered that she was the cousin of [[Chantaclair Rose]], Queen of [[Delium]]. She still makes her way here to the realms from time to time, making her living now as a blacksmith, her days of being a swordswoman left far behind, she hopes.

She was also known as [[Lady Bliss]] who eventually became [[BlissNoire]], a ''(cough)'' vampire of the [[Toreador]] clan. [[Bliss]] was befriended by such [[Prodigy]] legends as [[Val'n Green]], [[Narcissa]], [[Tynan]], [[Lawnmowerman]] and of course, [[The Hunter of Skulls|Skullhunter]]. She and [[Skullhunter]] eventually married. They have one son, [[Jaden Soulhunter]] who comes to [[Myrken Wood]] every now and then.

After the death of [[Prodigy]], Melanie wandered about, making short stops in other web based RP forums, never quite finding herself at home. Then she found the [[Broken Dagger (channel)|Broken Dagger]] with the help of her good friend, [[Mongrel]].

She appeared here as [[Altias Bromn]], the spoiled and wealthy son of a lumber baron. He was originally brought in to be a part of the [[Gaol Fighter Scandal|fighting ring]] at the [[Myrkentown Gaol|Gaol]], it never quite happened. The character of [[Altias Bromn|Altias]] took on a life, and mind, of his own. He has found himself as [[Governor]] of [[Myrken Wood|Myrken]] despite his inability to fight, and his rather...sensitive nature. His dearest friend in the realms is [[Ariane Carnath-Emory|Ariane]], they are often more than friends, but don't let that get around. What, with her being a female and all.

[[Altias Bromn|Altias]] has been missing more than a few times, but this time, a body has been found. It seems that, once again, [[Myrken Wood|Myrken]] is without a [[Governor]].

Jirai is, without a doubt, one of the less-savory types to be found in [[Myrken Wood]]. Though she often hides her face beneath a hooded cloak, one is unlikely to linger long in Myrken without catching sight or hearing about the pale white hair that frames her dark-skinned elven features. At one point, her face had been ruined by scars, twisted in a quite unpleasant manner. However, not long ago, they disappeared without any explanation offered. Not that Jirai is in the habit of offering explanations for anything.

Obscured though her face may often be, what is all too clear is that she is well armed. No less than a short sword, two daggers, and an odd-looking crossbow are usually visible, and those who know her know that there are probably more concealed about her person.

She is known among the seedier side as a fairly reliable source of information on a wide variety of subjects - for a price, of course. There was a bit of a stir when she began openly working for [[Suede Roschen]], former Councilor of Agriculture, as a body guard.

More recently, the slender woman has made her allegiance to [[Faeryl]] clear, and has aided the other [[drow]] in her quest to subjugate Myrken. Some have even heard her claim the name "Auvryrahel" - Faeryl's own name - for herself. Of late, though, the drow seem to have dissappeared, with Jirai appearing only occasionally.

Rhaena Olwak is the youngest child - and only girl - of the Olwak family of Rain Wilds Traders. Rather lanky, much else about her appearance is nearly impossible to determine, due to the fact that she is almost always covered head to toe in the veils and robes her people wear outside of their own country. At [[Agnieszka Kaczmarek]]'s birthday party, she mentioned that she was seventeen years old.

She is quite curious, and willing to chat with just about anyone about just about anything. Often she seems flighty (Her brother would say spoiled), but that's the vagaries of youth more than anything else.

Having come to [[Myrken Wood]] with her older brother [[Kals]], Rhaena justifies her presence by managing the transfer of goods from the Rain Wilds to Myrken. This means that she will often dissapear for various lengths of time, but inevitably returns again. Of late, her trips have been much shorter - oddly enough, for the fact that the flow of goods continues without diminishing.

Rhaena has gotten herself into trouble with fair regularity in Myrken - much to her brother's chagrin. Spier was born in [[Myrken Wood]], though his parents were originally from Derry. His parents were cobblers, but Rondeau had no wish to follow in their footsteps. Rhaena Olwak is the youngest child - and only girl - of the Olwak family of Rain Wilds Traders. Rather lanky, much else about her appearance is nearly impossible to determine, due to the fact that she is always covered head to toe in the veils and robes her people wear outside of their own country. After not much conversation, though, one would almost invariably estimate her age to be somewhere in mid-teens.

She is quite curious, and willing to chat with just about anyone about just about anything. Often she seems flighty (Her brother would say spoiled), but that's the vagaries of youth more than anything else.

Having come to [[Myrken Wood]] with her older brother [[Kals]], Rhaena justifies her presence by managing the transfer of goods from the Rain Wilds to Myrken. This means that she will often dissapear for various lengths of time, but inevitably returns again.

Once the Bloody Flux returned, Rhaena began to help out at the Edificium. Though she knows little about healing, she is quite content to clean and do any number of small chores that are necessary around the place, though her interest may have something to do with a certain person working there.

After learning that [[Bryce Larose]] had been kidnapped by a minotaur, she prevailed on her brother to search for the missing healer. This ended up merely getting the two traders captured as well. Fortunately, a series of events combined that allowed the [[Brotherhood of Janeiro]], including Rhaena's friend [[Agnieszka]] to free the prisoners.

Currently, Rhaena has just returned to the [[Broken Dagger]] after an extended absence, with wild tales of a magical abduction to a strange world. She's been paying much more attention to the family business of late, in between time spent with her friends.

Tsoss has the misfortune to be the son of [[Suede Roschen]] and the drow [[Jirai]].

Only a few months old, the child has been taken by Successor [[Faeryl]], who is apparently using the Councillor's son in order to ensure [[Suede Roschen]]'s cooperation.

Jirai:

Jirai is, without a doubt, one of the less-savory types to be found in [[Myrken Wood]], a fact made obvious by the care she takes to hide her face from all. Standing a scant five feet in height, she is almost always garbed in a long, dark cloak with a deep hood that serves to hide her features from all but the most prying of eyes. Beneath that cloak, her clothing is well-cut, but otherwise unremarkable. What really draws a person's gaze, however, is generally the array of weapons she carries openly. No less than a short sword, two daggers, and an odd-looking crossbow are usually visible, and those who know her know that there are probably more concealed about her person.

She is known among the seedier side as a fairly reliable source of information on a wide variety of subjects - for a price, of course. Among the [[Order of the Straka]], she is known for having a bit of a loose hand with her daggers, and recently had several charges brought against her. The dissapation of the Order seems to have laid those to rest, however.

There was a bit of a stir when she began openly working for [[Suede Roschen]], Councilor of Agriculture, as a body guard.

Most recently, she seems to have allied herself with the [[drow]] invasion
of Myrken Wood.
