"See," she says, quietly, "it's different for the two o' us. You came from not havin' no choice t' havin' a million. I gone from a million t' one. One." A pause. She shakes her head. "No, two. But that one comes wi' too much regret. Shit, Glenn, you're makin' no sense. It's all comin' fast. Slow down."

And he frowned, realizing full well what he had been doing. A far more serious look came over his face, more serious and less earnest. "What I'm worried about Agnie isn't the choice we make, so much as what happens afterwards. I CAN do a million things but I only would do a few, and in a lot of ways, I already made mine. But they'll change us, right? And we have make sure we're aware of what's going on beacuse of them."

And then there was a shrug, not quite professional but serious enough. "That's why I think we should talk, and often. Just.. talk. Once a week, at least. So that we keep aware of ourselves. We can figure things out together, right?"

"We'll see," says Agnieszka, after a moment. There's still quite a bit of reticence and disbelief there in the girl's eyes, but she's at least willing to entertain the option that Glenn Burnie was not consciously trying to drag her secrets from her soul.

"*Some* things we can figure out together," she says. "Some things."

Tue Mar 18, 2008 6:43 am

"Yeah, ok. Some things." And he'd smile now. He WOULD have to move forward, would have to learn what he could from what teachers were available. His job now affected people's lives and he had to do his best at it. This, he hoped, might counterbalance things a bit. It wasn't set in stone that they would end up like that. It really wasn't.

"I should let you get back to watching them. And I need to get into the office, right?" And she was still in front of him, so he would turn and start to walk back towards that hill.

Tue Mar 18, 2008 6:51 am

"Sure," she says, immediately lighting up. "Yeah, I do have to get back, I'm takin' notes -- all this I have planned, right? It's actually working out pretty damned well. The Myrkentowners remember a lot of shit from when Sleipner was hangin' about, but they need some discipline, and --" And a grin crosses her face.

"Sure. As long as we talk at my place. No bars. Got it?"

Tue Mar 18, 2008 6:57 am

He actually didn't have the greatest sense for who Sleipner was. He knew his former titles, of course, but past that, not much at all. That was the problem with Glenn and to a lesser extent Cinnabar. There was just a lot that they couldn't know, having not been here. Still, he wasn't about to admit that to Agnie. Too much had been admitted already.

"Your place?" Her place was such a dive. Hell. And she was calling a Dagger one last night. "Alright, alright. We'll pick another night to get drunk together then."

Tue Mar 18, 2008 7:24 am

"Too many ears at the Dagger," she says, shrugging, and making a few backwards steps towards the drilling bumpkins. "An' it ain't all that bad! I got pillows for the floor now, an' a few chairs, an' a *pot*." And she pauses. "Also, if you wanna get shit drunk, I'll buy you some o' this Dauntless stuff my Pa has. Only the *good* kind. See you."

And she grins, and starts walking back to the field.

There's a long glance for her as she walks away. It was hard to tell with Agony sometimes what was an act and what wasn't. Well, she had Dom to teach her, didn't she? It almost made him wistful for the siblings that he never knew. That was a quick passing thought. Somethings were better left behind him.

Well, she'd come around, or else they'd end up fistfighting at the end of the first talk and that would be that. There wasn't much risk to it and it should be good for them both, shouldn't it? Somewhere Rhaena ought to be happy, except of course that there WAS such an honest need for this.

Glenn waved to the Captain's back and started to head back on towards town. There was still a lot to do today. He did not look back.
