The Edificium Reopens

Fri Sep 24, 2004 10:25 am

Much time had past since the catastrophe that struck the Broken Dagger's neighbor across the street; since then, despite the council's lack of action and meager response, Doctor David D'Rael - with the help of many, many others - put the Edificium back together again.

The building was more or less the same as it had been before; personal items of David's that were destroyed couldn't be replaced, naturally, and excess furniture wasn't restocked. Whatever magics were worked on the building were probably gone, now; they evidentially did it little good, anyway.

Once again, a place for the injured and sick was available just across from the Broken Dagger, one of David's larger sources of income.

It had been some time since the elf returned to the Edificium. A half smile made as she noted the building looked as it did before. She was glad of it. A pain of guilt felt however since she was part of the cause of the descrution before. The good doctor asked all the staff to leave for some time. She had hoped a place was there for her still. Thankfully nothing had occured since the Silent Order had been disband. Only to herself and a few others would the truth of them be known of their fall.

Since the good doctor seemed to be out, she quickly jotted a note and placed it upon his desk.

************************
Dear David,

I hope this note finds thee well. I have returned and wish to ask for my old position back. Please let me know of your decision soon.

Thank you,
Aeri
************************

Once the note was placed, she slipped out quietly and headed for the hovel she called home.

"Mmph mmph!" So, with that said, Treadwell would find himself sneaking around outside the Edificium, poking his head in here, looking around over there, and overall ending up quite impressed with the rebuilding. Now, there's an odd sort of placement of properties again: the Dagger and the Doctor! Surely the proximity of the two would mean that D'Rael would have more than enough business in the months to come? If Treadwell's own Dagger-caused injuries and bumps have been any indication, he should, at least!

Rememdium Renewed

Sat Feb 18, 2006 5:49 am

The Rememdium Edificium has gone through recent changes - all of them good. Doctor David D'Rael had received aid when the Edicium had been destroyed over the past summer, restoring it to its former glory. The building was whole, it was prepared, and best of all, it was now staffed: more than ever before.

There were five individuals working at the Edificium now, the Doc included. It was to David's pleasure that more than half of those five came almost all at once - a turn of...trend, one could hope. From destruction to the opposite; from death to the denying there of. There was Bryce and Raziqa, who the Doc was keeping a loose eye on - Bryce, however, seemed like a steadfast and reliable young man. David didn't think he'd have any problems with him.

Then came the beautiful Arcadia Silverwind, who, even while sharing the same last name as her predecessor, seemed to be more than qualified enough to take over Aeri's stead.

For the first time since he had moved to Myrken Wood, David D'Rael thought about a vacation. But only briefly.

It seems that Arcadia Silverwind has made her home in Myrken Wood, having already made a few friends. She was enjoying her new job at the Edificium working for Doctor D`Rael. Already she had started turning the Earth in the small yard for a garden in spring, late at night some could catch her lithe form through the windows of the Foyer, busy painting the building.

Slowly the Foyer was changing color into a peaceful, tranquil blue that causes the body to produce calming chemicals, helping to put worried patients at ease. Upon the windows there now hung thick cream colored curtains, drawn back during the day to brighten the room with sunlight. In the corners she had added some potted plants she purchased at market, the rich, viberant green leaves adding another splash of color to the room. All in all the room was much more comfortable and welcoming, it appeared much larger now that the large paintings were gone, replaced with two smaller ocean views centered on either side of a porclin angel holding a candle in her cupped hands.

She worked night and day, often with the help of Bryce, when the young boy was done with other chores. Many times she could be found with paint smudged upon her skin or dryed in her hair, always that smile was there. As the last parts were added to the Foyer of the Edificium, she would make her way back to the rooms for the paitents. Here she would try something new....

New job...again!

Raziqa didn't talk much. It might seem she avoided Bryce in particular, but she wasn’t rude about this evasion. On the contrary, she was always smiling, and cheery. A habit she had, was to address everybody rather properly, unless specifically told to be casual. David was always “Doctor D’raelâ€

Change, change, change

All help was welcome, should Raz have any free time Arc would welcome the help. Arcadia was busy working on each room in the Edificium, painting each in a beauitful scene. One was that of a beautiful glade, complete with a stream that looked as though it flowed into the floor and outside. The next room was a beautiful sky setting filled with clouds that seemed to dance across the walls, the last room was blank, she was not sure what to put in that room, and the other rooms were bring painted as well, colors of the Doc's choice, for his office and such. She was open to any opinions on what else might need to be done. She was looking into finding out how much it might cost to add onto the Edificium, but that was long in coming, something that she would have to discuss with Doctor D`Rael. Well we'll see what else will happen...

It was a shock for Janessa, all these new people who had suddenly come to work at the Rememdium. While feeling once overworked she was finding now that she would have a few moments on her hands to tidy or to admire Arcadia's painting. While enjoying the additional help and company she mostly would seem to keep to herself. She appeared to be a quiet soul, and tremendously dedicated to her work. When her rounds were finished she could often be found listening to the stories of elderly patients through their coughs and sputters. She was well liked amongst the patients and she went out of her way to make sure that they were given attention above that which their maladies required.

To the new staff she would remain cordial, and every effort would be made to help make them comfortable and aid them where she could, even if it were a matter of showing them where to find something or offering a little bit of advice. Her free moments would find her out for long walks, or working on her recently aquired home. She just hadn't found much time to socialize with the others as of yet.

Where did she go?

Mon Mar 06, 2006 5:51 am

The Edificium seemed quite over the last few days without the Elf maidens remodeling. She had disappeared one afternoon from the dagger. She had been in the middle of a conversation with a strange man about the presence in the tavern, and perhaps a way to fix it. On the verge of starting a 'mission' she had heard a sharp cry in the street from a small child. Finding that more improtant she ran to investigate, leaving the stranger behind in mid sentence after a hurried apology. Upon speaking with the child she came to find her mother was rather ill, so Arc rushed to the Edificium and grabbed her pack, quickly following the child home.

The small abode sat on the outskirts of town, her mother very poor indeed. Arcadia remained with the child and the mother, tending to them both day and night, which explained her absence as of late. She was so caught up in her work, she did not think about, nor had she the time, to write a missive to send to Doctor D`Rael to let her know of her whereabouts. She was having a hard time fighting this illness, one like she had not seen before, but she would remain until the woman was better, or had passed.

Another absence

Bryce hasn't been around for the last week either. He was sent on a trip by the doctor, so unfortunately all the women that work at the Edificium haven't had him around for all their man-labor type activities. He's certainly dreading all the wood that will need to be chopped when he gets back, a week's worth gone from the pile.

Finished

Sun Mar 12, 2006 12:32 pm

ArcadiaSilverwind stood in the last paitents room, her grey dress covered with an apron of many colors from her painting. She was working on the far wall, currently puting snow upon evergreens, the scene she settled upon was rather breathtaking. She had blue/grey snowcapped mountains in the 'distance' then a forrest of evergreens and other trees that had lost their leaves covered in snow. She painted a frozen over pond, surrounded by a few snowdrenched fallen logs, a single, leafless tree stood not to far from the lake, encased in ice, it looked like crystal. How she managed that affect had to be the magic she used, the subtle healing spells mixed into the paint, offering a lifelike feeling to everything she painted.

Finally, she was finished painting the rooms. Brushes were washed, paint put away, all her mess cleared. She stood in the doorway looking at the finished work, a faint smile upon her lips. It seemed the change in the Edificium was complete, and she was pleased with her work.

As the weather changed and the ground dried out she spent more time outside working in her garden. The parchment left asking for help to end the evil in the dagger was left unanswered, so she gave the notion up. After all, if there were not people being hurt, they would have no reason to have the Edificium...

Mon Mar 13, 2006 12:19 pm

The call for allies against the beast that resided in the Dagger was not unanswered. Just late. It had been noticed by at least one person for a time now, but that person had been busy, distracted.

It would be now though, that a certain rainbow-haired male would be pushing open the doors to the Edificium, asking around for an Arcadia Silverwind. That monster had been the focus of his attention for a while now...and he'd been looking for allies. He figured it would take a lot of people to fight it.

If Arcadia paints when Ignas finally finds her, he's probably disturbed her. He has that effect, both because when he's not trying to be quiet, he's kind of loud, and because it seems that attempts at art simply fail when he's in sight. Either way, he's speaking. "I'm looking to help combat the evil that lives underneath the Dagger."

Thu Mar 16, 2006 4:57 pm

Arcadia left the dagger late on the night of the 16th, stepping into the Edificium long enough to grab her pack, which held all her belongings. She left the Edificium moments later, taking off down the road out of town, no word left with anyone at the Edificium, no message remained. She just disappeared. With all the plans to kill the creature haunting the Broken Dagger one would think she would have lingered about, and perhaps she was just out gathering things, clearing her mind before battle. Only time would tell if she would return or not, as for now, the only traces of the Elven healer had been there were upon the Edificium walls.

Mon Mar 20, 2006 4:04 pm

It was on this the 20th day of March, that brought Arcadia to the Edificium, with a note in her hand. She entered the small building, heading straight for the office of Dr. David D`Real. Upon his desk she placed the note, open, face up for any to see should they snoop in his office. She set his inkwell upon the corner of the note to keep it from blowing away.

To Dr. David D`Rael: I would first like to thank you for taking a strange in when no other seemed so kind. I would like to thank you for helping me, teaching me, and working with me. However, in light of recent events, I must take my leave of the Edificium, and your generosity of a place to live. I still offer my services, free of charge, and will come whenever you call. I can be
found in New Hibera, in the Palace of King Richard. I still intend to follow through with the plans to destroy the evil of the Dagger, all you need to is send me a missive when you have found yourself ready. I wish you the best.

Sincerely Arcadia Silverwind

And thus the Elven healer found herself a new home in New Hibera.

The Inevitable

The letter sitting on the desk of David D'Rael was an unhappy letter, and the Doctor was unhappy to have it. It was an insistant summons - an angry, yet pleading request that David return to his duties. His duties in the far off North; he'd postponed it last year just long enough for the passes to freeze up and become impassable, but alas, he had no excuse this time.

Doctor David D'Rael left Myrken Wood late this afternoon.

In his wake, he left a fine little collection of documents - legal and personal, for the couple left behind at the Rememdium Edificium. They detailed what Janessa and Bryce should do, as well as David's regrets that he could not relay the information in person, or abstain from his other obligations any longer.

The instructions were fairly simple; the resources there were available for their use, and those they did not want or need should be donated to representitive places - the books to the library, the beds and other blankets to shelters, etc. They were given the offer to keep the Edificium open, and offer what they could - should they not want the responsibility, they could seek some help from whatever was left of Myrken Wood's council, or...close the building down.

It was an opportunity, and a lot of responsibility. And it spoke of the great trust in the two young individuals.

David D'Rael was curious to what he might find the next time he set foot in Myrken Wood.
