Some call Gad Phuri a whale. Should this be the case, then he is quite, quite nicely suited to the flooding in Myrken Wood.

He is also quite, quite unsettled and angry about nearly being kidnapped, killed, or what-not this morning. In running a would-be assailant through and then crushing him underfoot, Gad was able to save his considerably flabby hide from capture, as well as his wife's not nearly as considerably flabby hide from the same. Now, though, he had to let the guardsmen know a few things.

To Capt. Thom. Daniels
From Gad Phuri

In self-defense, I have had to kill a pair of rogues who broke into my house this morning. Their bodies were put behind the house. May the rain drench what's left of them. Two more men escaped--a magic-user and a thief named De`Rouge, both former prisoners of the Myrken Gaol--and took Councilor Bromn and interim Governor Kanashia with them to an unknown location.

I hereby request, as of the untimely deaths of my four house guards, the replacement of these lost men--and in triplicate. Twelve guards if possible, yes, though six or eight should do. The rascal De`Rouge spoke of putting the men he's capturing into a most illegal pit-fighting ring for the enjoyment of him and his "peers."

Rest assured I had no hand in the captures of Bromn and Kanashia. However, Myrken Wood needs someone to stand and enact leadership in these trying times. Technically, that duty falls to Councilor Guillaume in the absence of the Governor or an interim Governor. Should he not prove available, Captain, it falls to, in order, Tetsi Avarante (too ill to be of service at present), Joseph O'Cynen (wrapped in the search for the Baie), and Altias Bromn (henceforth missing). At no point does the Captain of the Guard fall into line; such is to prevent martial law. If none of the Council are available to lead, it falls instead to previous officials with experience, starting with the former Governor should he be alive. Consider this, Captain.

Again: I request up to a dozen guards at my house as soon as possible, if possible. Bromn and Kanashia are missing. A criminal named De`Rouge is on the loose.

Good day.

For Myrken,

Gad Phuri
