Mask Day!

Wed Oct 27, 2004 5:32 am

"Yep, Jim, it's 'at time o' year again! Mask Day's comin' up 'is weekend. What's yer youngins dressin' up as for spooking folks?"

"Ya had to ask, didn't ya, John?"

"Mmhmm."

"Lil' Jimmy's dressin' up as a wizard--got him some white, stringy hair and such an' a lil' of a black robe an' hat an' a stick. Looks int'rsin."

"Well, my Jack's got the darnedest idee in mind, 'e does."

"What's that?"

Here, John Alldale shivers. "He wants to dress up as Counc'lor Tread'ell!"

And here, Jim Gettys bursts into throat-clearing laughter.

"I'm serious! 'e 'as one of 'is mother's ugliest bedsheets cut down for a robe, an' we've worked up enough fluffy white stuff for a beard, and, well, a big fat pillow 'round his middle gives him the right look!"

"Say, John, speakin' of Tread'ell. . . what do ye think 'e'll be a-going as?"

"I reckon he'll be a-wearing that orange an' yeller chicken suit o' his, if it still fits."

"Goodness. I ain't never seen a chicken *that* big. Sunday night, yep?"

"Yessir, this Sunday. The thirty-first, it is."
