A Little Song, A Little Dance..

A Little Song, A Little Dance..

In front of the Meetinghouse a pair of boys
giggle to each other and then begin to sing with some gusto:

"All aboot th'Cooncilors' chairs,th'Numpties chased Kanashia! Kanashia thought tha' he hae woon..Poop gaes Kanashia.."

Another boy rolls a hoop down a street, singing
as he runs:

"All aboot th'Cooncilors' chairs, th'Numpties chased th'Goovnor..th'Numpties found he was Treadwell..Poop gaes Gad Phuri!"

In another part of Myrken Town still another lad
teaches a new verse to a group of girls who blush
at the words, but soon they too are singing:

"All aboot th'Oophanage,th'moonkeys chased Alexi, Alexi thought twas all in foon,Poop gaes Alexi..."

Soon adults are humming the tune..and the words,
although in that accent, do catch on...

The silent watcher

Yet the Merchant had not gone. Nor had she been chased out of her own lovable town. She had held her peace, knowingly. Leaning with some degree of annoyance the woman snapped a hand forward with direct placement upon nap of a girls neck, drawing her up onto her toes. She had been singing it the loudest. Her tight blonde girls bounced against Roses knuckles. Soft and youthful.

"Do you like your tongue little girl?" Alexi asked with a little click of her own feathery muscle and saucy wink. Black feathers dancing about in the fancy hat which rested atop a bed of auburn locks. The other girls had scattered once their friend was trapped in the cranberry gloved hands of the proud woman.

"Then I suggest you pick up a hymn book and sing something -wholesome." A flick of her wrist and she let the girl go. She plucked one of the black raven's feathers from her hat and handed it to the girl.

"Give this to the person that taught you that song, and tell them.

Subtle Watcher

"It is ill advised, Lady Rose, to be threatening children about this region. There are those that hold the darlings in a great deal more respect and awe than you."

A calm, cool comment, from a robed monk on the edge of the laneway. He wasn't going to stick around, and was already fading around the corner to fade into the darkness offered by the sheltered angles.

Of course, Alexi Rose might find that children were prone to quick fingers in the near future. At least some of them, only needed to get close enough to allow fingers to brush over forms and lighten loads. There were always a few there and here. Who knew, whether or not that particular girl had deliberately let herself be caught.

Well. Lady Rose would find out certainly, when she sorted out if she still had a purse or not.

The feather was indeed eventually delivered
but not by the girl, who had never even met
Dhugal. At any rate, the pinion was twirled
about in gloved fingers for several hours
while rhymes were considered, until Dhugal set
it aside until later.
But next day,outside the Meetinghouse,he
found a rhyme had already been made:

Alexi, Alexi, AlexiRose, has black feathers
up her nose,
Alexi Alexi AlexiRose, how many fly out when
she blows her nose?

A young girl jumped rope to the chant, and
as her playmates counted, actually made it
to 27 feathers before the rope was caught
under her heel.

Dhugal laughed.
Children could be so cruel.
God bless them.
