But only in the more prestigious corners of town. Their bearers are several in number, sat high upon slender steeds, silver-chased and jingling festively about the reins and bridle. As if oblivious to the thin mud that splatters the horses' prettily-shod hooves, they make haste through broad Myrkentown, a vision in velvet and silk that draws stares wherever they might pass.

Here is one such notice, nailed to the forward doors of the Meetinghouse; a second copy is handed in person to the Steward who serves there, for delivery into the Governor's own hands. Another is passed to what senior officer may be located within the Barracks, for delivery to none other than Captain Daniels himself. But there are more yet to follow, some pinned to the sides of businesses of a certain calibre: silversmiths and tailors with the coin for silk, for instance; some affixed in neighbourhoods which home glaziers and falconers, of which there are fewer yet. The aristrocracy is besieged with the parchments, some of which will not survive the evening rain; even the better-concealed of them will wilt a little. But still, they are inked with an elegant hand and vivid colours of the sort ordinarily reserved for church documents. A plethora of emerald greens and cobalt blues, of scarlets so striking that they might have been bled from a hell's own demons. Lavishly illustrated, they read as follows:
