Forget.
Written on a piece of parchment in an elegant yet unplacable hand, this anonymous poem was found in the ruins of an old Inn covered in Thistle.
To flirt with Death
And cheat him too,
To sense the fire
And touch it.
Recoil in pain,
Again and again,
And forget the heat that broke you.
Intangible yet manageable,
A tool you'd think you'd grasped.
A sly wink here, a dagger there,
Ethereality at its best.
Disappear and come again,
Not once, not twice, but never.
Always the same by
Never the same,
The dimensions hardly last.
And just when you thought
You'd learn so fast,
A trick of the mind
Refuses to pass
As more than mirage,
A joke,
A laugh.
And you forget you can't learn whats not constant.
To flirt with Death
And cheat him too,
To sense the fire
And touch it.
Recoil in pain,
Again and again,
And forget the heat that broke you.
Intangible yet manageable,
A tool you'd think you'd grasped.
A sly wink here, a dagger there,
Ethereality at its best.
Disappear and come again,
Not once, not twice, but never.
Always the same by
Never the same,
The dimensions hardly last.
And just when you thought
You'd learn so fast,
A trick of the mind
Refuses to pass
As more than mirage,
A joke,
A laugh.
And you forget you can't learn whats not constant.
