Bells. It was always the bells. They rang their dark melodies, louder with every passing moment, until it was deafening. Moment after moment, the blasted bells gonged, ringing high within the Cathedral's towers, as if to smash open the eardrums of everyone within hearing distance.

They never did.

Not even in nightmare.

Darkness swathed. There were owls. Endless owls. They beat frantically upon the doors of the hut that stood long abandoned. Owls and spiders and other things she never had names.

It wretched blood, those wooden oaken doors. Wretched blood, as if to spill from the very innards of the Cathedral. Rest in God. Turn to God. God will save you from the wickedness of existance.

.. The children that had come out of that place..

There was blood, at the bottom of the stairs. All her power couldn't stop it from gushing free, couldn't stop the last breath from fluttering from lips. The father.. The father of her death..

Time swirled, darkness spread. There was a dagger, in her hand, marked with a dragon. Marked with the long lost symbol of an Order run by a corrupted Paladin. It was ironic, truely, that such a blade, such a weapon, had broken her vow.

.. Non-violence..

'You'll have to kill me.' He had said. She had. With the end of her vow, she had freed him.. freed him to death.. to peace.. to slumber..

.. to join his brother. The brother that gave her her wings..

..stained wings. Stained in darkness..

.. the widened, bloated eyes of a child stared up at her from the make-shift grave..

.. 'You freak' ..

.. 'Look at you, with red hair, and those *eyes*. Talm should have drowned you' ..

Within the restlessness of sleep, Lamai whimpered.
