Calm Times

Sat Jan 11, 2003 1:56 pm

Mystique sighed, gazing longingly out of the tavern window. Her clear green eyes darted from motionless object to motionless object, but there was just no hope for the day. No movement. Nothing stirred. No winds, even.

She turned away from the window, looking at the general populace of the tavern. They sat in various seats, frozen. Drunkards with drool suspended in the air; cups that hadn't quite reached the intended mouth yet. Everything was absolutely still; even the blaze of the fire made no movement. But such a scene was relatively impossible, wasn't it?

Mystique wandered through the packed room. There was one man in particular who was in the middle of falling backwards out of his chair from tipping it back too far. She grinned at the situation. She only did this ever so often, but it was always best when she caught people in the act of doing something that gravity would normally evidently deny the pausing of, if only to do just that. So, falling people were always the best. Or people who tossed things. Those were pretty fun, too.

She danced over to the door, having had her fun. Besides, there was only so long she could keep the room suspended. The door was, luckily, in the midst of being open. She would've had to let everything go again in order to open it otherwise. Mystique slipped past the petite woman who was in the middle of opening the door and stepped out onto the porch. She found herself a nice seat and rested her head in her hands, which were subsequently being propped up on her knees. Mystique giggled quietly to herself, and everything started back up again.

A crash and a yelp issued from someone who complained of future bumps on his head.
