Foreword.
My name is Jonathan Alexander Hilstrandt and I am a student of many things. Scholarly, in even my earliest years, my curiosity has often been reason for concern. Perhaps it is best explained this way; my studies have often ventured in to dark places. The sinister and macabre of nature and supernature fascinate me.
I have published works before this. The subject matter of these works, some might find them alarming or even fantastic. More often than not, they are frowned upon by the circles of modern magic and science. The pairing of the two, seems to me, far more blasphemous than any word I have dared pen. These are the controversies I traverse, the trials that I willingly bear in the hope that perhaps I am not alone in my wonderings.
What follows is a study in fear. Primal, preternatural and fascinating. Be aware, reader, that my words are not censored. I make no attempts to soften the affects of my knowledge. This is fact, seen by human eyes and often touched by human hands.
I hold no prejudices and my views are often misconstrued as nepotism, toward even the vilest creatures I have come to study. Often times, similar works are constructed on the basis that not all things considered evil are worthy of their reputation. I assure you; in these pages you will find no allusions to such.
In all manners of nature, those who do not abide to the rules of the wild, fail to prosper.
