For some, the Wood was sacred. For some, it was the churches. For some, the money-counting houses. For this bedraggled constable, it was the bars and taverns of Myrkentown. Each and every night he quietly moved from one to the next. Kinder souls would see it as a patrol. Everyone else would call it a sad problem. Detective Constable Kurt Lentham? For him, it was a pilgrimage.
When one's holy places are threatened, one acts.
That's what brought him to the Cow's Udder tonight. That's what had him pulling up a chair beside the tall elf tonight. That's what had his tone so dark.
"Few people in this world that I can call friend. Not sure you're one of them. Not sure you're not either. Something to that." Lentham paused to open up his flask and take a healthy drink. "Twisted, hellish experience, what we shared, tethered, right? Reckon that makes us something-or-other. You figure out what. Me? Got to figure out just what the hell you're doing, Bloodmoon."
There was something about Lentham's pauses, his long, steady gulps from the flask, that made people leary of interrupting. He stopped talking but he rarely gave up control of the conversation.
"Cutting across Myrkentown and back every night. Fine. Dandy. Do that too. Keep the peace. You've been breaking it. Fights. Every single night. People hurt. Intimidated. Maybe not paying tabs. Big elf. Big sword. Scary magic." Steady eyes glanced across to Seth Bloodmoon. "This is when you make both of our lives easier, Elf, and tell me that you've got some brother who's been causing all the trouble."

For some time now, Seth had been causing trouble here and there in Myrkentown. Oh, he hadn't gone as far as to kill anyone in the scuffles he instigated. No, the tall elf may not be himself, but he hadn't slipped that far... yet. For now he was quite content amusing himself with swaggering from bar to bar for a rousing brawl now and then.
On this fine night Seth had situated himself in the Cow's Udder, brilliant blue eyes absently studying various patrons. Boredom was clearly evident upon his angular features as he took a pull from his tankard, which held simple ale for the time being. How soon would it be before he decided to eleviate his boredom? Who would be the unfortunate target this evening? Who could be goaded into a brisk fight?
Those questions slipped from his mind as Lent entered and chose to sit next to him. Offering a slight nod of greeting to the man, Seth took another pull from the tankard. A moment later he was arching a curious brow as Lent spoke. Quietly he listened, not breaking his silence during any of those moments his companion paused to take a drink from the flask. With every word spoken though, the hint of amusement upon Seth's face became more noticeable, silent laughter perhaps dancing in his eyes.
When Lent seemed to finish with what he had to say, Seth took a final swig of ale then set the tankard down, leaning back some in his chair. A hint of a smirk tugged at the corners of his mouth, "Well, my friend," for he indeed cosidered the man a friend despite the changes in his attitude. How could he not, after what they had gone through together in that nightmarish dreamscape?, "what I am up to is enjoying myself quite thoroughly."
A breif paused followed those words as Seth glanced absently down to his nearly empty tankard, but his gaze rose a moment later, his smirk growing rather crooked, "I indeed have a brother, and he has caused trouble in the past. However, the trouble he causes tends to be with me, and the last time I saw him in these parts I had left him bloodied and battered on the ground," a low chuckle passing through his lips, "Plus he's never been fond of such establishments to tell you the truth," hands lifting in a helpless gesture.
Tilting his head slight to one side, he continued on, "So, unfortunately, Lentham, I'm afraid I am the culprit," nodding his head once with those words, "Honestly it's all innocent fun. So a few people get knocks and bruises. I can't help it if I intimidate them, and it's not my fault that they might be shaken to the point their tabs may not get paid," shrugging a shoulder, "Maybe they should avoid such places as this if they wish not to be caught up in a scuffle," it all sounded perfectly reasonable to Seth!

Lentham listened. Lentham drank. Lentham listened some more. At the end of it, he looked Bloodmoon over. Up. Down. Up again. "Met old people that couldn't find their way home anymore. Met old people that could barely relieve themselves without help. That happen to elves too? Few hundred years can drive anyone mad."
Benefit of the doubt, if insanity could count as that. Letham figured it could. Saw it well enough, first-hand. This wasn't that though. Not senility at least. "No, doesn't come on so quick, not with a smirk like that on your face. You're too damn happy about all this, Bloodmoon." He shook his head before going to the flask one last time. "Bloodmoon I knew wasn't that happy about anything at all. Makes me wonder why."

Ahhh, if only it were a case of Seth slipping into his twilight years, this change in him. Unfortunately the tall elf had many, many, many years before he reached that point in life. That is if he lived long enough to grow old.
The crooked smirk remained firmly in place upon his angular features as he listend to Lent's words. In the depths of his brilliant blue eyes danced a flicker of amusement, a quiet chuckle passing through his lips before he spoke in return, "Definately not a case of being adled by old age," nodding once with those words, "I have plenty of years before I grow old and decrepid," the smirk pulling into an almost arrogant grin for a moment.
A slight snort was given as Seth continued on, a flicker of annoyance dancing across his face, "The Seth you knew was a pathetic fool of a man," one hand flourishing through the air as if to brush away the past, "I've wasted too much damned time in that state of being. Now I have moved past it and there is no going back," a silvery brow quirking in an almost challenging manner, "One should be glad to see a friend in a 'happy' mood I would think," Lent definately didn't seem to be such, at least in Seth's opinion.
