With the careful management escorting and management of refugees, the knighthood had its collective hands mostly full. There were rumors of impending invasions, even war, from without while villains threatened Myrken Wood from within. For a relative newcomer to the provinces, Sir Malaroth found the state of affairs to be deplorable. The refugees were being successfully cared for, war had not yet come, and the matter of the Ashfiend would, hopefully soon, be dealt with. Even if it cost him a very fine person to see the creature ended.

There was a loose thread. A gypsy. An opportunistic and mercenary gypsy, in the knight's mind, who had betrayed them all to the Ashfiend at the battle of Snowstill.

Therefore he spared a small handful of knights to policing Myrkentown and its immediate environs for any signs of Khalika Quiller, occasionally going so far as to keep an obvious and careful eye upon those widely known to associate with the woman who had apparently vanished into thin air.
