Did Helstone chance to check on a certain gem he had recently aquired, he would find a note neatly rolled beside it.

Neatly scribed, in clear mockery of the formal letters that often passed between the council, the words were as follows:

To the honorable Coriolanus Helstone, Governor of Myrken Wood; Greetings.

I regret that I must confirm the suspicions you doubless hold (for I know you are no fool), that your ex-councilor, Suede Roschen, is a liar.

If you would like more details on this matter, do leave a letter right where you found this one, desginating a meeting time and place, and any conditions you might have for me.

Done by my hand, this Fourth of February Anno Regalis Two Hundred and Seven,

Jirai.

I must admit, this is the last thing I'd have expected to hear from you. I am quite curious, yes, and willing to hear what you have to say, but my caution in speaking to a suspected ally of Successor Faeryl must be taken into account, especially considering my position as defender of Myrken Wood.

Perhaps you will send me a message with -- encouragement, so to speak, that you can be trusted in this manner, and I will see what I can do.

Sincerely,
Coriolanus Helstone

Helstone,

Your caution does you credit - fortunately for you, my motivations and ambitions are by no means comparable to the illustrious Successor's. In this matter, it simply pleases me to assure myself that you hold no illusions as to the nature of a certain person familiar to us both. I have no doubt that you shall find this information as interesting as I find it entertaining to dispense.
