In the minutes after the conclusion of the fighting the sound of running
men can be heard coming down the road towards the site of the battle.
These are not warriors but men clad in the robes of monks, carrying
bags slung over their shoulders, although there are a half dozen older
men among them carrying large staffs.

At their head is a young novice that some might recognize from the
plays performed near town. He brings his group to a halt a short
distance from the fighters and holds up a hand.

“We’re from St. Thecla’s. We’ve come to see if we can help the
wounded.
