Change of the Guard.

Change of the Guard.

Straka had disbanded, and all throughout that next day it seemed a if Straka was truly leaving the building. That building being the structure containing the barracks and gaol that had been built by the hands of those who lived within the province, and funded by taxes taken from their purses. And now… it was being emptied of all that had be set in place to keep them safe. And yet… yet it was not long before another group would immediately claim the place as their own.

Indeed, it would be in the middle of the process, while some of the Order’s men were still confused and shocked at what had happened. One and all, as they trickled out they would be met by men in hip length coats of slate grey with bands of turquoise blue at the wrists. Several would be stopped by these men and spoken too. Offered a place within their ranks. To be more than what the revered Order of Straka once was. And what was that?

To join the Brotherhood of Janerio, that was what. And what, exactly, were they? They were the collected forces of the Councilor of Defence and Civil Security. There were a good hundred or so of them, men who had already been assisting Straka with their duties in the outlaying areas of the province. Men who had helped build and then defend the Wall, who had done the long patrols out to Foggy Bottom and into the farmland. Some of whom had bled, and died, to help Straka maintain order.

And with Straka’s dissolution, it was almost natural that these men would be picked and pulled and set into the void. Yet they would not want their companions to be left without a job. To make their own sacrifices less. So they would be invited to trade in their old tabards and take up the grey coat of the Brotherhood. All they would have to do was inquire within. The Brotherhood needed them, but more importantly, Myrken would need them. And with the derisive posters showing up around town, now would be the time to make them defunct. To show these… ‘People of Myrkenwood’ who exactly they were. And that was that they were not leaving the people to burn and wither under the myriad assaults of Drow and Darkness and of what other else would strike at them. All they had to do was turn back around and head back into the barracks. The Brotherhood would welcome them with open arms, and together they would help protect their friends and loved ones…

Those that had other questions would simply have to head to the Meetinghouse, where Councilor Kerrak would be in attendance for the rest of the week, before taking a tour of the provinces fortifications and preparedness. He, too, would not be leaving the people to suffer. He was even now preparing a statement for the next day. Any and all would be welcome to attend, so please, come and listen… and voice your concerns if you have them.

((OOC Note: For any and all interested in playing someone in the Brotherhood, please let me know. I’m more than willing to assist in any way. And as before, they’ll basically be fulfilling the same tasks as the Order, except that they may be a bit more politically motivated. They’re all there to assist in plotline development! I hope y’all enjoy.))
