Doors close and doors open, as they say. It is with some regret that I must inform you that we have been forced, due to expediency and outside pressure, to fill your position as Councilor of the Arts with a man I hope we will find to be most qualified indeed, in many interesting ways.
Despite that, it pleases me to believe that you think back fondly to your time here in Myrken Wood, a time of rebirth and recovery. It is in that light, I write to you requesting a boon that you are uniquely qualified to grant. As is so often the case here in Myrkentown, we have experienced a recent unnatural disaster of rather epic scale. Our Gaol has been decimated and with it much of the more easily gathered criminal element of the province. I have little doubt that others will rise up to take their place, and we therefore have great need to move on and rebuild.
This brings me to your unique qualifications. You are a man who knows a great deal about both imprisonment and design. I realize that the former may bring to mind and heart memories dark enough to eclipse whatever positive thoughts you have for Myrken, so I will understand if you cannot agree to what I ask. Moreover, I know just how busy you are, and I do not know if this letter will even find you with any haste. All that said, it is my desire that you design for Myrkentown a sturdy, daunting, modern gaol, a building that contains nothing less than your usual architectural brilliance.
I'll be honest, if I do not receive a design of such from you in due time, I will be half tempted to simply create a labyrinth and be done with it, so it's likely for everyone's best interest that you respond promptly.
