Thunder, and a light in the sky...

Thunder, and a light in the sky...

It was early evening when it happened. A time when most people were enjoying their dinner, visiting with neighbours, speaking of the troubled times that have befallen the land. Though, for a few minutes or hours, people spoke not of Drow or Thessilane or the Brotherhood... They spoke of the bright blue vortex that exploded in the sky.

Some were sure it was an attack, a new weapon developed by their many enemies to slay them all. Panic ensured. People stared up into the sky. What was this strange light?

Though, as quickly as this anomaly appeared, it vanished with a flash and some say it spat out something before that happened. Others -know- something came out of that spinning, churning portal, for they watched as it decended from the sky and landed in a clearing near the slums just outside of Myrkentown.

It was an airship, but none like what Thessaline employed. Nothing like the Hawk's Talon at all.

Two Brotherhood patrolmen saw this strange event and rode to investigate. As they neared they saw three figures board the vessel as it hovered only feet above the ground. When they got closer, the Corporal instantly recognized the largest of the individuals boarding the ship via a lowered gang-plank.

"Lieutenant Bishop!" shouted the Corporal with surprise, knowing the man on sight for he commanded them for a good month or so.

It seemed that the trio heard them, Bishop certainly did. He ushered the two smaller figures, which were obviously small and young girls (one of them pregnant), up the gang-plank before he himself disappeared onto the deck of the strange ship.

The two Brotherhood horsemen were caught off guard, seeing their former Lieutenant board this strange ship, and obviously in the company of the two young fugitives he helped escape from the Barracks, but now they regained their senses and spurred their mounts forwards. It was their duty to bring in Bishop and his fellow escapees, no matter if they were aboard some strange and fantastic vessel.

Though, even as they galloped towards the ship, the gang-plank retracted and the vessel began to rise away, but not they got there... But a man peeked over the side of the ship (it wasn't Bishop) and he fired something at them... It wasn't a crossbow bolt or an arrow or even magic, but rather something they couldn't see.

Whatever it was, both brave Brotherhood men would soon slide out of their saddles and fall to the ground, fast asleep. About half an hour later they would waken to find the airship gone, as if it were but a dream, and two small darts in each of their shoulders.

After again gathering their senses, finding their mounts, they would ride back to the Fort to report what they had seen, for it wasn't a dream.

Not a dream at all.

And in the Larose home, there would be remnants of a pork chop dinner, three quarters of an apple pie with two uneaten slices of pie on plates, and a small purse of gold coins.... There was also a gray uniform jacket laying on a chair near the door. The uniform jacket of a Brotherhood Lieutenant.
