Constable Calomel,
Mister Burnie might have already told you, but last night I ascertained that the Fiend has returned to the lake. In addition, he seemed sad. Mister Burnie found that quite odd. I might be able to find out more, but I am currently restrained by a promise made to the mapmaker.
I wish to accompany you when you ride against the Fiend (assuming, of course, that you do so). I find it highly unlikely that I might be surprised by the Fiend and once I get closer I can pinpoint its location much more closely.
