A gathering of information

Governor Phuri is once again in his office at the meetinghouse, there alone at the moment as he makes notes at his own leisure and for his own remembrance. Nothing official, of course, and nothing that would leave his office.

Gad Phuri, Judiciar
4 April
- Item. Permission granted for the forces of New Dauntless and Temuria to move through the vicinity of Myrken Wood to stop the undead menace closing on this very region. A very hard decision, but a necessary one. Both armies say, if I can recall properly, that it would take upward of a week to move accordingly. Check the notes from the scribe appointed before the emergency meeting.
- Item. We asked for a new submission of the orphanage idea submitted by one Alexi Rose, including details about its status if it failed and so on. I have received such information already and found it to be, for my part, satisfactory. Nothing has been approved yet.
- Item. I have received three names for the open position of Captain of the Guard: current guard Lieutenants Matthew Duvall and Joshua Kilborn, both of whom are said to be quite honorable and useful men, and one Alexander Kanashia, a wealthy young man who recently attacked and held off a "strange creature" in the Broken Dagger. I'm partial to promoting one of the two lieutenants, myself, and not hiring some rogue who would perform heroics in the local tavern.

It is here that the Governor pauses in his writings, wiggling around in his chair and sitting up. He is about to nod off from such drudgery. Now, on to the official work! Four copies of a fairly standard note are written up to be sent out to the other councilors the next day. Save the title for each man at the beginning, the contents are as follows. . . .
Presence requested: April 5
4 April
I, your Governor, request the presence of the Myrken Wood Council members for a brief private meeting to discuss two matters of unfinished business: the creation of an orphanage in Myrken Wood and the appointment of a new Captain of the Guard.
Hon. Gad Phuri, Governor
