This was another hastily delivered missive. The man bringing the packet would be dressed as formally as any of Kerrak's ever were, and would wait until someone from within the walls of Lothbury would come to see him. Once that had occured, the leather-bound packet would be handed over. With direction to hand it to Lord Guillaume as swiftly as possible. The solder would then ride off, the satchel at his side burdgoning with post-mail.
Within? Well, Giscard would have to untie the darkly crimson cording and open the dun brown leather packet. Within would wait the folded parchment, sealed in blue wax. Kerrak's sigil denoted who it had come from, as if there was any other guess. What was inside was brief.

To: Giscard Guillaume, Councilor of the Myrken Judiciary.
From: Kerrak al'Nerun, Councilor of the Myrken Judiciary.
Lord Guillaume,
No need to expound on this matter, since I am certain that even behind your estate walls you have heard rumour. It appears that Governor Bromn is dead. And with Councilor Roschen missing, again, you and I are all that remain. I would strongly urge you to come to the Meetinghouse for a meeting. I can arrange for a strong presence of arms if that is what is required to get you out of Lothbury.
Heed. If you do not, at least, reply then I will consider you incapacitated and unable to perform your duties. I would prefer not to, since you are the longest running council member this province has still alive. Write to me at the Meetinghouse. It really would be for the best.
Kerrak al'Nerun.

Lothbury's security had become almosr ridiculously exaggerated, during the worst of the winte -- and the horrors its cold winds had carried with them. But it's remarkable what a little temperate weather and good cheer will do for an Estate; if Kerrak's man had received cautions, he will surely depart Lothbury with relief -- for very few of them prove necessary. There are guards at the great iron gates, certainly, but not the belligerent sorts who'd staffed it in precious months, and he is permitted to make his approach without challenge; without so much as a sparkle of drawn steel.
Within the hour, Councilor al'Nerun will receive his reply, delivered to the Meetinghouse by one Waverley Jacobs, indentured courier, with instructions that it be surrendered to al'Nerun's hands alone. Not that such caution is necessary, surely, for the actual contents of the letter are almost unremarkable...
I, Giscard Guillaume, Lord of Lothbury Estate, Councilor of the Myrken Wood Judiciary In Regards To Commerce and Trade Etc., to to His Honour Kerrak al'Nerun, the Councilor of Defence and Civil Security: Greetings.
What I require is a physician. Mine tells me I ought be grateful that to have suffered a fever, and not the Bloody Flux, and I find such advice is of little practical use. My sole relief is that the ailment passes with the season.
Your kind concerns for my health aside, the rumour of Altias' death had indeed recently reached me. Are you aware that my personal guard has also been slain? A man more easily-alarmed than I might suspect conspiracy -- but we are educated men, and can recognise a coincidence when we see one.
Regardless, this is grave news, however it is received. I intend to meet with you as immediately as possible, circumstances having become suddenly quite urgent. I will not have it spoken that Myrken Wood is run by a single man -- or even two -- as if it were a monarchy unto itself.
Done by my hand at the Estates of Lothbury, this 16th day of March.
Giscard Guillaume.

Waverley would not have long to wait for an answer to be sent back. There was no point in making someone make the trip when someone else was already on the way there. Kerrak wrote his letter quickly, then folded and sealed it. Kerrak would have had little else to say, other than it was to be delivered to Giscard himself.
----------------------------------
Giscard,
Forgive the familiarity of this letter, but best to make it short. I AM glad to hear that you are still with us, and if you need another physician to speed along your recovery then say it, and I will send along one of my surgeons to Lothbury.
As soon as you are able, then we will meet. It will take the two of us to rebuild the council, yes? And better together than at each others throats.
Kerrak.
