A missive to the apparent fairy king.

Wed Nov 09, 2005 2:21 pm

Dear Mr. Richard,

Lt. Kilborn of the Order of Straka is not one to make up falsities, and thus if he states that you are indeed Councilman Treadwell, then this is likely so. As such, your kingdom apparent has made a rather threatening act against the people of Myrkenwood, whom have never greatly appreciated such.

Furthermore, you've suggested that one of our upstanding Councillors would dare to place a bounty against you for no forseeable reason, all at the word of some scalliwag you've likely come in contact with while trapsizing about the land without our permission in what could be construed as an act of war.

I assure you that none of us would ever think to perform such a deblorable act, and would never condone it.

We would greatly appreciate you scheduling a meeting with those of us whom are available at the most acceptable time, since you've decided that a marginal portion of our territory is apparently yours despite the fact we've never heard of you.

"Dear me! He can't be serious! Do the big folks up there not keep any records at all of *anything*? How could he think we're just now trying to take over a hunk of their land? That's utter foolishness!"

A bewildered Richard Aengus sits there munching through something at a dining room table. He finishes his meal--whatever meal one eats at four in the afternoon--and soon enough has a note written and sent back, again in three separate copies, to the Myrken Council.

To the members of the Myrken Wood town council,
Greetings.

Forgive any misunderstandings on my part about the aforementioned matter of a bounty on my head. In my time here, I've been attacked, nearly stepped on, nearly squashed, and generally thought little more than an oversized bug. I must say I resent such, but I am willing to forgive it! Now, back to the matter at hand, I implore you again to search your records. We have numerous copies here of documents drawn up some years ago where we obtained this little stretch of land we call home, complete with signatures of some of your past officials. If such has been lost, then we have these as proof; rest assured they're certainly genuine.

And rest assured, I've no intentions about engaging in warfare with any of you. When your Mr. Treadwell first came here from Westenford, Amasynia, did you all immediately assume he was here on terribly nasty dreadful evil business?

We will arrange an appropriate meeting time in a suitable location as circumstances permit. I wish the lot of you well.

Yours in peace,
Richard Aengus of Hibera
