Myrken's Shepherd

Myrken's Shepherd

Postby Malaroth » Thu Jan 10, 2008 3:07 pm

To the Honored, Assembled Councilors of Myrken Wood:

Greetings and Salutations,

I write to you in the interest of Myrken Wood. It has recently come to my attention that there has been a bid for the office of Councilor of Defense and Security. I would also like to declare my desire to serve the citizenry in this position.

Although not Myrken-born, I have come to call Myrken Wood my home and have tirelessly served her people since my arrival. It is my honor to do so, and to come alongside the stout arms and strong hearts of those who would also see this beleaguered land safe. Some of my recent actions undertaken for Myrken Wood's benefit include the rebuilding of the Priory of Snowstill and repairing of the Library of Mudd, which demonstrate that while I have a mind ready for hardship and battle, my heart longs for peace.

I have demonstrated strong leadership ability in the founding and commanding of the Shepherd Knights of the Silver Staff, who have paid with their lives, time and again, for the safety of the people. My life has been one spent in service to a nation: I began serving the Zachean army from the age of five until I departed for Thessilane shores. Yet I have never asked another to give his life where I have not risked my own: in both Zachea and in Myrken I have willingly engaged the enemy hand-to-hand not out of pride but as a leader should and as the means to achieving victory.

My entire life has been spent in seeking peace and preparing for, and leading through, warfare. I have applied knowledge of siege defense, assault, large and small scale strategy and tactics and general military upkeep. I humbly submit myself, and my credentials, to your review and judgment.

I thank you, sincerely, for your consideration.

Sir Malaroth Deucalios of Zachea
Grand Master of the Shepherd Knights
Honor, Courage, Wisdom
I wish I had a reason
My flaws are open season
For this I gave up trying
One good turn deserves my dying

A bleary-eyed Treadwell made it all the way to where the Councilors have been meeting, today, inbetween bouts of sneezes and sniffles, only to find nothing much happening besides a letter's arriving.

He at least took the time to send a note back before rolling back home in his carriage for another evening spent in bed, unhappily unwell and eating and drinking everything brought to him--mostly consisting of warm soup, hot teas, and other would-be medicinal stuff.

Poor Malaroth. He has to read Treadwell's sloppy, heavy, nigh unreadable handwriting.

Sir Deucalios,

We at the Council are currently working to see to the safety of all of Myrken Wood. Your request to assist is certainly appreciated and is something we shall certainly see about considering. I'm quite sure a note from the Council as a whole, or perhaps from just the Governor, will find its way to you soon enough with either acceptance or denial of your offer.

Aloisius H. Treadwell
Councilor of Revenue and Finance, Myrken Wood

To Sir Malaroth Deucalios of Zachea, Grand Master of the Shepherd Knights

Sir Malaroth

My thanks for your recent letter, and your offer to serve the people of Myrken Wood in the role of Councillor for Defence. Your credentials are certainly most respectable, and having fought alongside you myself I do not see any reason to doubt your capabilities.

This in mind, I would welcome a chance to speak with you regarding your application to the position, with a view to more thoroughly discussing the duties and responsibilities involved. Please contact this office to arrange a mutually convenient time for such a meeting, and matters can progress from there.

Sincerely

Cinnabar Calomel

Honorable Councilor Aloisius Treadwell,

Greetings,

Councilor, I thank you for your swift reply. I hope that you and your... church... fair well in these days. With any luck I will be able to visit you again, soon, my first Myrken friend!

Sincerely,

Malaroth

Cinnabar Calomel
Acting Governor of Myrken Wood
High Constable

Greetings,

A more thorough discussion of the matter at hand is a fine idea.

May I suggest some day this approaching weekend?

Sincerely,
