A courier wearing the colors and badge of House Aldred arrived at the Meetinghouse, bearing a sealed envelope for the Governor. Should it be asked of him, the courier would await and then deliver Calomel's reply; if he was not kept, however, he would vanish, for there were other deliveries to be made.

To Cinnabar Calomel, High Constable of the Myrken Wood Constabulary and Interim Governor of Myrken Wood;

Salve, Calomel. Good health and fortune to you.

While I have been quiet, nearly silent, I assure you I have not been idle. As a test, its purpose to determine the level of the people's interest, I initiated a quiet recruiting campaign for the new army. Based solely on word-of-mouth, I had the militia first spread rumors, then actual facts about the formation of and the revised structure of the army, as well as certain choice benefits they receive for active service.

As a result, we now have just over one thousand men ready and willing to serve in the army of Myrken Wood. A few more trickle in every day, as word spreads.

The foundation has been laid, Calomel. It's now time to build.
