Those wooden, immovable councilors

Those wooden, immovable councilors

A new feature would be set up outside the Meetinghouse this morning, the third of July, in Myrken Wood, and it would be finished by mid-day. It would be something akin to a gazebo, erected at Councilor Treadwell's expense and command, and it would stand about fifteen feet off to the left side of the Meetinghouse. Such a gazebo would hold some new decorations!

Five solitary, sturdy, unpainted, magically water- and snow-proofed statues would soon stand inside said gazebo--by the early afternoon, actually. These statues are life-sized, extraordinarily carved representations of the five current folks in charge of Myrken Wood. From left to right, viewing them, there stands the slight Joseph O'Cynen, the rotund Aloisius Treadwell, a normal, pre-demonic-pregnancy Altias Bromn, that ever elusive, ever shifty Giscard Guillaume, and that seemingly absent Marquis Malegnone Al-Darcu. All of Myrken's current representatives have finally gathered together in one place without bickering or badgering!

But who made such wonderfully realistic pieces? Secretly, this was the local toymaking taxman's doing, yes, but the only clue to whose work this is comes from the initials carved into the rump of the Treadwell statue: A.H.T. Of course, Mr. Treadwell doubts anyone would even bother looking *there*; thus, it's a perfectly suitable place to "sign" his work!

"Not fat enough."
"John!"
"Whaaaaaat, Martha? I'm jus' sayin' 'at Mr. Tread'ell ain' fat enough there! 'e needs t'be about a hunnerd pounds heavier!"

And here, John Alldale gets a well-deserved slap from the missus.

...and if one looked closer, one would see a small simulacrum of Tready's prolific primate pal, the lemur perched on his shoulder.
