Since early morn', the tavern has been a bustle of activity in preparation of tonight's affair.
The long tables that Proxemus had once set out behind the tavern for the re-birthed militia had been moved around to the front of the building. Along the centers of them, decorations of candles and carved pumpkins and clusters of other gourds have been set out.
Long poles have been set into the ground, ropes and stakes used to help support them against the breeze for come night fall, lanturns will be hung to help illuminate the tavern's front lawn were the festivities shall be held. Bales of hay proved extra seats for those who wished to escape the bustle of the tables that will be spread with food and drink for all come evening.
Before the appointed time, musicians would be arriving to run once more through their collection of songs and tales while fine tuning their instruments.
The crowning glory? The bonfire that was to be lit just before costumed patrons arrived, stacks of cut wood waiting to be added to the pile already set within the dug pit surrounded by larger stones from the river to prevent the grasses from taking flame.
All had been thought of and planned quite well by the red-haired woman the directed the busy traffic.
By the time patrons arrive, everything shall be lit and set ... including a small table where someone stood guard to hand out small slips of paper to those arriving, kindly explaining that there was to be held a costume contest. The paper was so that those attending may write the name of the person they wished to vote for, to be added to a bowl of other such votes that will be tallied up by the end of the night.
Food will be brought out, of meats and pies, fruits of the fall's harvest .. of what could be spared from the drought and flood and what had been brought in from other lands in relief.
Some of the farming families will even venture to the feast, calling an end to their own small war that had been waged between the tavern and it's head bartender from earlier that summer. With winter ahead and all help needed to survive after the sufferings of the crops, it was time to bury the hatchet and make amends.
Failure lies not in falling down, but in not getting up.
