An unexpected visitor

Aloisius Treadwell arrived in a sweaty, wheezy huff last night, making one simple demand: that he be given a room for the night so that he could take up a matter with either Lt. Kilborn or Captain Daniels in the morning. What sort of matter? When prodded, he ended up giving a lovely description of the fellow (Vortyic) who had pulled a blade at his neck when Treadwell refused to enforce a wager concerning Victory being "coupled" with the man.

So, much to the chagrin of the guards, Treadwell spent the night on a spare bunk in the barracks, feeling a little safer with the Order of Straka around him. In the morning, he woke with throbbing back and then penned the following note and a copy of it to be given to the two men mentioned above.

To Capt. Daniels and Lt. Kilborn

Sirs,
I must request immediate assistance with a fellow who tried to kill me last night. I understand the Order's policy on not loaning out guards to any Myrken Wood officials from the Order's own company; however, I also understand that it is the Order's responsibility to help see to the safety of the town's elected officials. In short, I refused to grant the request of this man, which involved "coupling" him with a streetfighter named Victory as payment for his recent win at one of their bouts, and he ended up putting a blade--made from his hand, mind you--to my neck for the trouble. Do see to this.
Councilor Treadwell

(A description of Vortyic follows the close of the letter; if I honestly knew what he looked like, myself, I'd type it out. :) )

Aloisius Treadwell,

The severity of your complaint has been noted and will be dealt with immediately. If you could provide the location of where you had this dealing with this individual, you would provide us with much assistance, in ensuring that your safety, and security is met.

In additional benefit to you, you will be supplied with either references of capable mercenaries to hire at your own will to provide you with additional protection. Alternatively, if you would prefer your protection would be in the form of recognizable individuals, you are welcome to arrange a meeting, in which we can discuss arrangements involving members of the Order acting, temporarily, as your protection from further involvement in this affair.

The actions you undertook, in reporting this incident immediately, were honourable and intelligent. Your behaviour should be commended.

Lieutenant Joshua Kilborn.

For once, Kilborn had even meant what he'd said, when dealing with a politician. While he didn't particularly like Treadwell, and would probably see about assigning Otis or a gentleman of that caliber to providing Treadwell with any protection if he refused to hire his own men, he would see about providing the man with protection.

Of course, this also likely meant that Victory would be sought out and arrested. Streetfighting was illegal still, much like pitting prisoners in the gaol against one another in fights to the death. The only downside of this, was that there would be more paperwork involved. Bloody bureaucratic nightmare. All the politicians' fault. Oh well. Could be worse. He could have to make eighteen copies or some such.

Additional sheets of paper were sought out. Arrest warrants needed to be made up.
