Another Routine Report

Last night, on the eve of April 18th, Cpl. Sullivan and I encountered a demon of striking danger during our rounds. It occurred, as fate would have it, near the Broken Dagger - as I'm sure many more than just the two of us looked skyward to see the demon and another woman - Quincy Randall - fighting in the air. Whether they crashed or landed neither of us saw, but both ended up on the roof of the tavern to continue their combat.

Cpl. Sullivan and I moved to help Randall and defeat the demon as soon as we were able, which was a feat in its own right; as soon as myself or Cpl. Sullivan got topside on the roof, the original pair simply took off again.

This time, however, the scene was accompanied by the man Dhugal, who seemed to have as much in mind about the ordeal as we did. Either the monster's indecision or Dhugal's distraction made it hesitate long enough for us to again, become participants - along with one of the doctors at the Edificium, who pitched in a fireball of her own.

The demon transformed into something even far more hideous than before during the fight, and after a few attacks on it commenced, it fled up into the sky. It would seem that only Randall was harmed in the encounter, which was to be expected from the woman who 'hung on for the ride'.

It's simply another thing to be on the look out for, in the long list of things to be hunted. Trying times, but I'm sure we can pull through.

But there was another thing, that happened after the battle: the beast had shrieked, while leaving, 'Vialweh'. Whom I learned, only moments afterwards, was a person - one which Dhugal had an odd converse with, concerning the demon as if it had some sort of...relationship to it. I'm not quite sure what it is, but at this point, anything we can use to cut down on all the evil in Myrken Wood should be utilized in its fullest. I'd suggest taking this 'Vialweh' and possibly even Dhugal in for questioning - they obviously know about the demon, and who knows what others. I personally don't think Dhugal is involved with them, but one can never be too careful. Even if we can only learn about one, it may help us in the near future with others.

Another report from the incidents surrounding Myrken. A night spent talking with Altias, and the looming threat of the Baie. Was what Quincy fighting the Baie itself? The possibility was not ruled out, but he wasn't sure -- no, not positive.

And that Loviti Obe`t. More and more, the Captain distrusted that woman. Possibly it was her closeness with the Councilor that struck him firstmost, and then a story that held facts; but did that mean it was all true? Alexander had to curve his trusting behavior, especially with the meeting he was to have with Seranos this evening -- and the Guard meeting. So many had claimed they would be unable to come, and the fear of cancellation loomed over his head.

The Captain would personally thank Corporal Daniels for the report, and he would be sure to speak with Dhugal on the matter, if not as well with the woman named Vialweh.

Another long day, after another restless night.

I'm beginning to be really disturbed by the number of unholy creatures roaming rampantly around Myrken Wood these days. But what more can we do, but simply try to fight them off?

The day I wrote my report about the battle between the demon and Quincy Randall, Corporal Sullivan and I encountered yet another, equally hideous beast. During our patrol, we spotted the monster simply standing on the porch of the Broken Dagger - we moved down to a side road to avoid initial confrontation, but the noises coming from the front of the Dagger made it apparent that a confrontation wasn't going to be avoided. The demon was beating his way into the building, from what we could hear.

Cpl. Sullivan and I slipped into the back door of the Dagger to check on its occupants, where we met up with Captain Kanashia. Shortly after, a crowd had attracted the beast, which promptly began to charge into the people with nothing less than an unholy thirst for destruction.

Capt. Kanashia and Cpl. Sullivan rushed out to battle the demon, while I stayed to stop anybody from leaving the Dagger, potentially putting themselves in danger.

The captain and my partner were accompanied by two women who had apparently been the source of the crowd, but despite their best efforts, the beast escaped. Two people died, no others injured.

I wish I could say that was it, as bad as it is. But there is more, unfortunately. The following night - making three straight nights in a row - Cpl. Sullivan and I found Quincy Randall battling yet another unholy creature atop the Broken Dagger. Lucian, the vampire. Once again, we moved in to assist, but we arrived only fast enough to break Quincy Randall's fall from the rooftop and to see Lucian simply vanish, which we later learned was not from his own power, but a local healer's by the name of Aeri.

It seems that Lucian has a special interest in Capt. Kanashia, and has posed a number of threats. It is obvious that we need to meet these threats with nothing less than the vigilance of the Order of Straka. These are dark times, but we can pull through. We're not alone, either; help has arrived from Thessaline.

Any sightings of the three - as well as any others that might be found out there - should probably be reported to Capt. Kanashia.

I should like to have it known that as I write this, both Corporal Sullivan and I are staying at the Rememdium Edificium for magically induced major burns to the skin - most likely at the distaste of the healer Aeri.

Last eve, Cpl. Sullivan and I spotted the woman Vialweh, who was to be taken in for questioning concerning the one aerial demon whom we encountered some time ago. Upon spotting us, however, the woman bolted and started pursuit. It looked fairly incriminating, to say the least.

The boy Phlynn tried to hinder us, but I did eventually catch Vialweh. I had to, unfortunately, resort to tackling her, but no injury came to her then and I would've hoped it could have stopped there. But I was wrong.

Phlynn continued with his hindrance, threatening me while I stopped Vialweh from escaping. It was very much the same scenario, at least in the boy's mind, that surrounded the murders of the two boys. It was exactly what I had feared, when Captain Taliaferro had released the boy. I have all the respect in the world for Prince Taliaferro, but I'm beginning to doubt his decision with Phlynn was the right one. He's still dangerous, and confused, still potentially lethal. In his own defense, I should note, he seemed to show some sort of self-restrain, and no harm came to myself or Cpl. Sullivan from Phlynn specifically.

Not so with the woman who identified herself as 'Crowwing'. It is from her that our burns originate; and it is her that I should mark as another danger to look out for. She is of the same kind as Lucian, another unfortunate unholy entity haunting Myrken Wood. Hopefully she was just passing through; I haven't seen her before. Suffice to say, Cpl. Sullivan cut her head almost completely off, and she still had the stamina to attack another man - whom we don't have identification on, but as far as we can tell came in our aide.

There was also another man, likewise unidentified, who came to the aide of Crowwing specifically, but did not actually harm ourselves. He created some sort of magical field which dispersed our 'dog pile', which was blessing under the circumstances.

Another 'neutral' party came from a man with a large black armored guard, whom Dr. D'Rael here informs me is N'Ylim Fath'ir. His guard pulled Crowwing and Cpl. Sullivan away from each other, which may very well have prevented my partner's death, despite the should-be lethal wound the vampire woman had sustained.

I passed out not long after, and could obviously not bring Vialweh in. I asked her, prior to losing consciousness, to simply come into the Barracks at some point for questioning. I should hope she makes good on her word, and does indeed visit at some soon point.

I can only stress the danger of this Crowwing, as yet another unholy creature that needs to be dealt with. Perhaps as well bring to light that Phlynn still might be emotionally unfit to live openly in the public.

The healer Aeri and Cpl. Sullivan exchanged words, doubtlessly of spite, and among them was a promise to talk to Captain Kanashia about our conduct. I expect Capt. Kanashia will hear from her shortly, as well.

I only hope that this is taken as any previous report as been, as unbiased information summed up to the best of my ability.

There was a disturbance at the rear of the Broken Dagger during our patrol. Cpl. Sullivan and I investigated, find that two individuals were fighting. After breaking up the fight, one of the combatants - a man whose description is attached - accused the other, an elven woman - you'll find her description attached as well, as best as Cpl. Sullivan could recall - of theft. He said that she had stolen a pouch of shilling, somewhere around a hundred.

After we had quelled the fight, a large man approached and kicked the plaintiff. We were able to avoid any other form of assault from the large man, as well as sending him off on his way. He seemed calm, and we didn't feel it was warranted to take him in.

During the distraction with the large man, the elven woman had slipped away into the woods. It was a pretty guilty gesture. I'd suggest we take the woman in, and make her do some community service or something along those lines. We can use all the help we can get in these times.

Last eve, Corporal Sullivan and I happened onto a carriage crash not far from the Broken Dagger. We rushed to the scene to assist any that might need it, and our haste was only quickened when we saw the cause of the crash to be the beast described in Governor Gad Phuri's letter.

We took it as fast as we were able, which allowed for only a couple of swings before it took off with the governor and Cpl. Sullivan, who had grabbed its tail and hung on for the ride. I lost visual shortly after it leapt - and I do mean leapt - high up into the trees with the two men, but I did continue tracking it fairly deep into the forest, using the howls and yells of Cpl. Sullivan. It gives me a little hope, at least, to know that Robert was giving it all hell all the way through - I found several splashes of blood that was clearly not the governor's or Cpl. Sullivan's, which helped me track them.

I caught up with it at one point, but only to discover that the creature has some power of invisibility. Total and perfect. I only spotted the beast myself because of the disturbance it made on the tree branches. I think it was waiting to capture me as well, but it must've thought otherwise, as it once again quickly vacated the area.

At that point, I had found both Governor Gad Phuri and Cpl. Sullivan, and they were both asleep - something I can only attune to the beast having a sleep venom of some sort.

It seems to have had a specific purpose in the woods, and I would guess that its hideout is somewhere out there. I would hope for a search party with all haste, that I can lead out into the area of the woods I lost the creature and start searching from there.

I'll reiterate the danger - the beast can turn itself invisible, and must have some sleeping agent. It should be met with all ferocity that men can muster.

This evening, a patrol in the vincinity of the Broken Dagger tavern, came across a disturbing sight of two women duielling. Their immediate reaction, was to investigate, but upon recognizing the duelists. Lady Alexi Rose, and one of our own weapon masters, Ariane Carnath-emory, they saw fit to pause in their efforts, and send for my presence.

I arrived in time to perceive that the bulk of the wounds thus far had been minor, at the very best, and the two women themselves were grappling upon the ground. Ordering them to their feet, proved to be the undoing however. I can only assume the anger boiled up. Ariane dropperd her weapon at my voice, but damage had already been done. She had sliced open Alexi's arm, and I then witnessed Alexi attempting t6o dig out another eye for her collection.

A swift conclusion of their exchanges was brought, and as wounds were being tended to by the patrol and myself, a man purporting to be a knight of the church stepped forward, and lay assault to the patrol and myself. Claims of protection and asylum being granted to alexi Rose.

For the record, I have received no such documentation, and would request further research be done into the claim. I have found no traces of paperwork filed with our staff.

Ultimately, he sought cause elsewhere, and Ariane and Alexi's wounds were tended to, along with the guards themselves. I had stepped into the Dagger proper, where Aeri had fled with Ariane, to speak to her about the matter of the assault. Shortly after my entrance, Doctor David, whom had been left tending the noblewoman outside, burst through the ooor, carrying Alexi and darting out the back. A large sword weilding gentleman in pursuit.

My own injuries prevented me from rushing to investigate, and I proceeded as best I could to the edificium, where I heard mumbles of voices from within. In the end, my arrival was delayed enough that the swordsman, and Alexi Rose managed to use some form of magical escape. The knight departed on foot.

The doctor, was uninjured.

Returning to the tavern, plans were made to escort Ariane Carnath-Emory to the gaol to serve a sentence for aggravated assault. Plans interrupted by an attack upon Aeri, the Healer, and myself. With fortune, I will recover shortly and resume my ordinary duties.

It is unknown who had designs on Aeri's life. I am told the would be assassin is now ash. Further investigation is highly recommended.
