Rumors

And so the rumors began.

The misty drizzle and foul, cold weather at the edge of Myrkenwood would do anything to make those that suffer under it do much the same. Unpleasentries were exchanged, slamming was done, and the young woman stomped out of her house, irritable and angry. A most silly argument over a boy, between the girl and her mother, yet it was such that often causes most disagreements.

And there was a safe place for the girl to go to, to work out her emotions and tears that threatened to spill down her cheeks. Into the chickenyard she went, tucking herself comfortably in a clean space behind the coop, wrapping pale arms around her knees and sniffling into her dress.

Such a vantage point. She faced the Forests, and it was because of such that she was able to hear the whisper of feathers, head jerking upwards with a gasp.

And the rumors began.

If it were an insult to call such a creature a man, it only scratched the surface of his appearance. He- for it was most certainly a he, bare of clohting save for a lone loincloth around his midsection, and decoritave peices of cloth here and there- leaned heavily upon his spear, wings of ebon moving to cloak his back once more. Framed by braided and wild black locks, intelligent blue-on-blue eyes peered at her from beyond black-smudged muzzle, arched as proudly as the creature's neck.

Ah, but it was not even these that held the young woman's attention in the mere seconds she had to view him. What stood out was this- of the carved alabaster and ebony statue, none drew her attention moreso than, rooted in his wild mane, at the exact center of his forhead, there grew a slightly-curving, dimly glowing horn, a marvelous pale blue, more wondorous than the most expensive jewel, and worth much more.

Her mother's call distracted her, and it was in that instant that the creature disappeared.

But too late.

The rumors had already begun.
