Another visitor to Darkenhold

The warm summer wind blew through her hair as she travelled on to her destination. It was not tavern business that drove her on today, but rather an issue that was a personal matter. Dressed in trousers and a tunic rather than her usual skirt and blouse Dulcie had dedicated a good portion of her day to a trip to Darkenhold.

It was with no great joy that the barmaid decided to embark on her journey that day. She hadn't even ventured close to Darkenhold in months and now it held such a great emptiness that as she rode closer to the gates she'd begin to have second thoughts. She'd slow her horse, a poor overworked gelding that was borrowed from the farm for the day, the only means the barmaid really had of travel, and would pause a moment at the gate looking at the expansive building before her. There was a grimace on her face and she'd take a moment or two, just staring up at the sky, collecting her thoughts and emotions before she would finally dismount and lead her horse to the gate.

"I'm here to see Ariane." She explained to the gate keeper. Years had past between the pair had interacted at all. So many years. Years when Quincy was still a part of her life, and when Bromn was Governor. How long ago that felt now. So long in fact that she had forgotten the swordswoman's last name. Never the less the gate keeper seemed to recognize the name she had offered all the same. And now the barmaid would wait.
