Quills, Swords and their various accomplishments.
It cannot be said that the approach upon Tyminel's lair did not take a toll upon those who dared it. In the case of a swordswoman, a day of real rest was required for sake of a body left heavily bruised and a neck that insisted to ache. Stillness takes a toll upon a creature made for action, but she is not without means despite it; today, consequently, action has been a matter of ink and paper, and all that these things can accomplish. Amongst the day's work had featured such missives as this, each delivered by young and able bodies to their various recipients:

You have surely heard those rumours which lately travel Myrkentown. If she is yet within your care, then there she will remain, and all is well. If that is not so, then I urge you to send word which may be receeved here at Darkenhold, and I shall set to remedying this.
Ariane Emory
Or somewhat more bewilderingly:
Ser Coriolanus Helstone
Greetings.
I hope that all has gone well with you and yours in these months since your last visit to Myrkentown. I have some regret on this matter, I had hoped that we might speak during your time amongst us. Duty interveens. Both we know this too well, I think.
Should there come a time in days yet to arrive that this is not so, I hope that you will find time to make a return to us. I hope particilarly that you know that Darkenhold would welcome you, yourself and Sera Ramyerez both. Our gardens have benefitted very well from the spring time warmth and there are things which please the eyes and the spirit.
Ariane Emory
There are two others yet over which she has particularly struggled, and not solely on account of her meagre vocabulary, her inability to exercise even that quite adequately. There is crumpled paper littering her room in testament to these difficulties, and at the end of it all there is only this very short thing sent to the Chapterhouse of the Shepherd Knights:
Councilor Dookalios
In the wake of all that has come and gone, I hope that all is well with yourself and your sera Squire. Perhaps we shall speak of these things some day and perhaps we shall not, but it will be my hope meantime that spring's warmth will infekd us all.
Ariane Emory
The fourth, however...
Oh, how the quill has hovered over the page! Which had inevitably become a litter as much of fractured words as splattered ink, so that she'd had to crumple and discard the thing, and inevitably begin again.
And again, and yet again, until ultimately she abandoned the whole notion as a loss, and resolved to try over again the day after. Perhaps this was not, she'd supposed, entirely detrimental. Some letters should not be sent from Darkenhold land, some matters should not be associated with this place at all.
Such matters, for instance, as sought-after urns.
