Day four of Expedition Five-Nine-Six-Two

We have been on this plane now for four whole days and frankly, its quite boring. Would seem that the biglings around here have the same response as the biglings of other planes. "Oh look! A fairy! How cute!" or "Buzz off fairy!" or "Isn't that cute! The fairy has armour!" Actually, that's not true. Some of the biglings I have personally dealt with have been more accepting, treating me with the respect my station is due.

Let me go back for the sake of completeness. We crossed into this plane into a forest. What corresponds to the city of Blenwen back home is a forest here. At least it isn't over water like last time. I have one standard scout company with me, consisting of three platoons of thirty men apiece.

Base camp construction was started pretty quickly. I opted for a location high up in a tree simply to get us away from the ground and any biglings that could potentially find us.

While the company got to work, I sent out two squads to do a perimeter check and basic intelligence gathering. It was this very move that would later give me the knowledge that would lead me to a tavern the local biglings call the Broken Dagger.

Just over twenty minutes flight away, the tavern was a fascinating find and I personally lead the initial mission inside to determine it's potential worth to my operations. A most excellent find if I dare say so myself.

Queen Lorean would be so pleased with me, considering she gave me the order to come here herself.

Have encountered several individuals that have provided me with information that is forming the basis of my report. The forest is apparently called Myrkenwood and the nearest bigling settlement is a town called Myrkentown. Apparently it's run by a council as well.

More importantly I have come across information leading me to suspect a fairy kingdom of some shape or form is in the local area. This is most interesting as it may provide us with a more permanent base of operations instead of a field base. I'll have to determine it's size before any further actions regarding it can be made. After all, the Queen much prefers peaceful annexations to military conquest.

Also, it should be noted that the bigling named Lita was of some use. This will be remembered by the Empire of Brinen, mark my words!

Day six of Expedition Five-Nine-Six-Two

Have encountered a disturbingly large and rotund fairy named Richard who claims himself as king of Old and New Hibera. Due to his presence and the guards with him I will concede for the time being, without further proof, that this man must be the king of the suspected nearby fairy kingdom.

He has however requested negotiations with the Empire. The Foreign Office back home is just going to love this. Our first interplanar negotiations. Like that's going to sit on my record just lovely isn't it?

After some correspondence from home, I am eagerly awaiting reinforcements currently. I have been told that the reinforcements are a platoon of mages and they are to be split up amongst the platoons I currently have to bolster my already formidable scout company with magics. This is lovely news as it is.

When they arrive I will send 3rd Platoon out on a scout mission to try and locate this Hibera. From the weight of King Richard and how easily he seemed to tire, it can't be to far away. While negotiations go on, if they go on that is, it is still useful to know where someone is isn't it?

Base camp construction is proceeding along well. We seemed to have chosen a tree free of birds at the moment, which is nice. The primary platform surrounding the trunk of the tree is done and the altitude of it from the ground is excellent. With the platform done, buildings are now being worked on. My private quarters and barracks are the primary concern, as we do need a place to sleep besides our tents.

Sentries report minimal bigling activity around the area we are camped at. Let's hope it stays that way, for their sake.

Day fourty-six of Expedition Five-Nine-Six-Two

Having had misplace my log, it made making log entries somewhat difficult. Luckily, while the Queen had recalled me back to the Kingdom to supervise Expedition Forces during the annual Festive Parade, Lieutenant Boffin managed to find it for me.

The Empire is currently warm and very sunny, as befitting this time of the year. However, the world I have been sent to is covered in snow and windy and generaly not very pleasent. No doubt it's somewhat warmer closer to the shores and even more nearer the tropics.

Lieutenant Cotton reports a bigling celebration of the solstice while I was away. This is interesting and warrants some investigating, if just for the Cultural Research Division of the Imperial Expedition Department.

At least the diplomatic mission with Hibera continues just fine. Their Ambassador from reports, took the interplanar travel alright. I never met the man while back home as I was busy with the Parade and all.

I certainly hope he liked the city of Blenwen and the Imperial Capital. Both lovely cities. Ambassador Tiran was escorted to Hibera just fine, but I have had no reports from him besides those that I send on to the Empire. Seems like a very professional individual. No doubt King Richard is getting on his nerves, but he's grinnign and baring it all in the name of politics. At least it's not my job.

As is though, having been away for a month, I have an incredible amount of paper work to do and must get back to it.
