Forest restored
Only a few could guess what had happened - that in the morning, a strange song was heard, a strange feeling; an almost-tangible expectancy that was soon enough fufilled. The Forest around the Dagger, quite suddenly, seemed to spring to life.
It didn't venture far, this sort of magic; travelling in any direction for less than an hour would find the traveller again in the water-starved part of the forest, dead and cracked, brown and grey.
But almost as if a line were drawn straight through, it would suddenly become verdant and full of life, birds and beasts already settling, dew fairly dripping from the leaves witht he blowing of a cool, playful breeze.
And the odd thing was, along certain paths, one would find footprints - laden footprints, alien, filled with sweet, cold, pure water, even the plants around them slightly frosted.
For those that knew the signs, or knew who knew things in their souls, the Lord of the Forest had returned.
