Wyrm

Devastation lay across the fields; sheep dotted the landscape, once five-hundred head strong, now with a few hundred missing, the rest scattered across the field. Thier hearts had burst, or so the mourning sheepherd and his hires thought; blood caked thier nostrils, eyes red, wildly staring. From the firlds and to the woods, grass had been flattened and burnt, as if a great, flaming iron had been dragged along the ground.
Dragons were benevolent. Dragons were powerful, wise entities. And yet dragon must eat, and a truely great wyrm took what he wanted - be it gold, livestock, or lives.
The Wyrm had found his lair, in the wee hours of the morning; he crawled on his belly, powerful, crocodillian limbs pushing his massive bulk forward, triple-forked tongue tasting the ground as he inched himself further inwards, bat-like wings held to his smoke-black sides. Room was made as powerful spikes brushed the cieling, enormous claws scooping out rubble, back paws scooping and kicking out the excess until his lair was made. And then he lay his enlongated snout on his crossed paws, waiting.
