Proper Perception

Wed Jun 04, 2003 6:13 pm

-The events herein took place a couple of nights ago, I've just been a little slow in posting it...-

The Duke sat quietly at his desk, quill slowly scratching upon the parchment before him. Orders had to be written, and then written again to make sure the proper authorities had them. Well. Had them was a relative term. As was the word proper. Perception always determined what one would see as proper. In either case, it was still orders that he penned. And then passed to the General who was his second.

"A full Flight, sir? Do you think that wise, considering what just happened in the city?" The force commander looked rather... perturbed at the thought, but he'd be trained to offer up such concerns, even to Burel himself if that were the case. And this was the case.

"Yes, a full Flight. You worry too much, Wilhelm. They will... be garbed in a more covert manner, than in the usual crimson and cream. They shall be fine. Just a little help to the good Lieutenant. Pick a squad that has been here the longest, too. They will fit in better, as it is." The Duke paused, then placed his signature and seal upon another order. It, too, was slid forwards.

The second man perused it a moment, one eyebrow arching. "So... We've been given permission to expand our patrols? All the way up to the border with Amasynia and New Dauntless? I... didn't think it would ever happen." Burel only grinned.

"My dear General Wilhelm, I have made arrangements with the proper authorities..." Burel smiled again, almost devilishly. "Now then, would you please pick out five of our good Regiment Captains and detail them to these patrol routes? I think five thousand men should be more than sufficent. If those barbarians think to get any closer... Well, by Adon we will find them. And then, hopefully, the rest of the army will march in from the north, those Temurians from the south. And then we can push them out and away from fair Myrkenwood."

-----

The next day would see five-thousand one hundred men depart from the area near and around the town itself. The bulk of the men in crimson and cream would be heading for the farther reaches of the province. Heading for borders that were in sore need of bolstered defense. However, one band, who had shucked aside the normal livery... made their way for the town of Myrken itself...
