Redemption

She ran faster than she had ever run in her life, bare foot, with the white hospital gown batting at her calves. She lost track of the miles throught Mryken Wood. Her tracks would be lost by the dawn of the morning, washed way with the rain that the thunderstorm had brought through the late hour of the night.
The water was still clinging to her burns. Murky Lake water which left this wretched slimy coating of film on the fine white hairs of her flesh.
- She recalled it all in her mind. - She had had two days to plan it out while she lie in her hospital bed. She had, had two long nightmarish days to consider the plot. She had been explained over and over in what seemed like nightmarish dreams, how she would baptize the boy. How it would be his Redemption in the end.
She was a sailor, a woman of the Sea. She knew how to make a good tight knot; she knew how to sink a man to the depths of the ocean bed so he would never be found. Surely she could to the same to a boy, in much smaller Sea. Silver Lake. Except this boy would rise up and be born again.

David had no idea he would be apart of the very plot she had carried out. He and the Governor would be her alibi- She had made sure to suggest to the Doctor that she would be going to the Evening Mass, even invited him along.
And it would be his dirty navy cloak and crisp white hospital gown that would be her cover.
- Gad had shown up just in time to give her a ride home from the hospital. And he had arranged for the carriage to pick her up and take her to the midnight services, so she could worship on the Eve of the Resurrection. It would be a perfect time for the forgiveness of sins. Surely even the sin she would commit.

She was still weak, still hurting from the burns of the carriage fire. The Fiery Inferno as she called it. - And the Convent would be waiting for her, expecting her late, after all the other sinners had come and gone. She had a special meeting with the Bishop, and Priest. She would profess her love, for the faith, she would want to give her life for it. Or at least that is what she would say. That she needed healing, and forgiveness and she would do anything to be purged of her past life and sins.

She was an unwed, woman with no children. She could very well take the oath of celibacy and marry the Church. However, it was more likely that she would just take the covering of the Church and offer her body, soul and heart until her sins had been forgiven, and she had sacrificed long enough. For surely the woman's crime would be most unforgivable.

Phlynn had sunk to the bottom of the lake like a dead weight with his wrists bound. With the weight tied to the end of the rope. A perfect means in which to sink him into the murky depths of Silver Lake. She knew he might live. Redemption she had told him, it was his redemption. Why she -had- baptized the child. Like it or not She knew he would rise up again, just like the Christ. And it would prove to her more than a book ever could that he was a corpse walking, a vampire. She didn't know how long it would be before he freed himself from the bottom of the lake, but she knew she had to run, quickly, and she had.

Shedding her wet skirt and bodice she had stood naked under a tree and burring them in an already dug dirt hole to hide the evidence. She had hung the hospital gown up in a tree limb, along with the navy blue cloak and tugged them on in the chill of the darkness. While the vampire child, fought for freedom in the bottom of the lake. Could it be possible that the dead before him would come alive and swallow him whole? It was a darkness that pulsed and fed from things just like him.

"Come in my child, we were expecting you." Came the soft and humble voice of the nun. She had opened the gate and tucked Alexi up under her arm, sheltering her in the holy garments that would mock and cleanse the younger woman in the days to come. The price for peace and forgiveness was never easy it was always paid for with blood and tears. And surely Alexi would be made to give it.

One would not put it past the Church to see to it that all evil was snuffed out. Would it really surprise some that they may even have given Alexi the whole idea, and means of which to carry out such a plot? Then shelter her away in the sanctum of the Sanctified Church itself? To make her the Jesuit she might already be? Sometimes a woman could do things no man ever could, for the noble and Holy Cause of the Church.

After all anything was better than rioting away in the gaol.
