Memory Stirs

Wed Apr 07, 2004 7:19 am

The flickering flames of the fire cast tongues of shadow across Daniors face. With his arms tucked behind his head, cloaked in the silken waves of his hair he watched the stars in the sky. A smile turned the shape of his mouth into a sensual curve a deep sparkle within his eyes. It had been a pleasant afternoon truth be told it had been more than pleasant. The gypsy woman had proved a match for his wit and humor and a most welcome distraction after the strange male. Skin crawled at the memory of the way the man had eyed him causing a low growl to erupt from his throat .why was he thinking of such things no he was far better off to think of the auburn haired... The thought was never finished the warmth of the flames the blankets beneath which he rested lulled him into sleep

The sun was high the sky casting warm light over the world the stirring breeze whispered through the grass caressing the tender blades. He could hear the sound of her singing lifting on the breeze floating out to the paddock, tongue clicked against the roof of his mouth causing the tethered mare to pick up her pace. This one had been giving him trouble she refused to take to the saddle and he refused to break her spirit to make her, patience was the key he believed. The sun crawled onward in his path across the sky, he let the mare come to a stop and he stepped closer, stronger fingers gently stroked her neck "are you ready my beauty is today the day?" the question was breathed forth in husky tones and he knew when she whinnied and nuzzled his neck she was ready. So she would not be afraid he talked to her as he took the saddle from the fence told her everything he was doing step by step. Others teased him about his methods but he always got the best results so he took it in good humor. She started when he placed the saddle on her back and joined the cinch and he let his hand stroke her neck again "easy girl its alright" he soothed working the cinch tighter with his other hand...

Danior stirred in his sleep restlessness starting to take hold of him heart knew and mind remembered the pain that followed and yet he did not wake...

He had gotten the saddle on her and the reins soothed her enough to swing into the saddle, for a moment she had stood still then she bucked and twisted beneath him trying to throw him off but he gripped with his knees and stayed put and all the while he talked to her. She settled then and her turned her head away from the house towards the forest and they had cantered beneath the trees as he taught her there was naught to fear.
Evening was creeping close her shadows pulling the sun lower in the sky when he turned towards home. He felt it, smelt it at the same moment Aoife whinnied in distress the acrid stench of smoke. Vaneliah, the horses his heart and mind whispered with the same voice
"Get me home girl" he didn't even have to squeeze with his knees before Aoife against her nature was carrying him towards the fire. Hooves thundered tore over the ground and she had barely slowed when her leapt from her back. Gaze turned towards the stable, which was ablaze, several horses running in panicked circles within the paddock.
He knew then she was in there trying to save the animal he could hear screaming in fright in terror. "Vaneliah" his feet were pounding the turf even as her name tore from his throat, he could hear others arriving behind him but it mattered not, all that mattered was getting to her. He did not notice the beam arm from the hayloft as he neared the door did not hear it snap and fall he knew nothing till it caught him across the back and bore him to the ground burning through his shirt searing his skin Vaneliah his mind and heart screamed even as blackness engulfed him.

Scream of heart and mind within the nightmare tore from his throat in reality released him from the nightmares cruel grip. He sat bolt upright face drawn in pain body drenched in cold sweat; body trembled, shaking hands rising to cover his face. His face was wet hands fell away and he stared at his palms stared at the tears falling into them even now more than five years dreaming of her death could bring forth these tears waken the cold ache of grief within his heart. In a strange way he was grateful for it meant he had not forgotten.

As if he ever could

Midnight screams

Wed Apr 07, 2004 11:21 am

The night Continued for the Gypsy long after her encounter with HIM....No names, It was always better that way. Close to midnight she made her way home, a brief conversation With Sill, and she was undressing and laying in bed.

But sleep never came, it rarly did, An Hour passed the sheets, shifted and far from neat, and she was standing...the oversized shirt she wear to sleep in, barly whisping against her thighs. Coming to sit at her desk, a hand falls over a book that sits closed. Her journal, her last connection to her dear Captain.

Captain Dexter Cassion, was tall, broad shoulders, and ruggedly handsome. After growing up on a small farm outside of Myken Township he broke out to explore the world. He had thought his life was perfect. A respectable position, in what he thought was a law force...Then he meet her, and she ripped his life apart. Her passion, her fire, her convictions. shattered everything he thought was right and wrong. And open his eyes to a whole new world...She was Gypsy, but not just any, She was the leader of an army of ragtag, who were piece by piece slowly defeating the Ghal armies in very encursion. And he was the highest Ghal Captain, but one look at her, at those azure piercing eyes and he knew he would follow her to hell.

Years passed and he was no longer a Ghal Captain but her second in command, her confidant, her lover....He never knew it possible that she could have such a heart, but she showed him a love that would crumble kingdoms, and when she agreed to become his wife he thought nothing would stop them.

But in such things...Such passion they could not last...and they did not...For one fateful night, when he was returning from a scouting mission she was waiting, he expected her there, for they were to be married the next day. But when he entered the tent it was dark, and before he could even call out to her there was metal against his throat...and soon he could feel the dampness of blood running down his neck, and words whispered in his ear...

"For betrayal, there is no forgivness..."

He was in shock...chocking on his blood, When he looked and saw her, standing there holding the bloody dagger, and then he realized...In the end all that he loved about her...destroyed them...His hand grabbed at her, a gentle touch to her cheek. Even then he could not hate her..He understood her fear, her hatred. And that all showed in his eyes...

"I forgive you.."

The words forced out through blood bubbles, And she knew then all to late that he wasn't the one....That he would never..And she weeped as he died in her arm...by her hand....

And As the sun rose years later, The Gypsy was once more in her bed...That book clutched to her chest...And she was weeping, fresh tears for an old memory....
