Iandra Zhari

A mixture of black smoke and the smell of blood filled the air. Screams from many heard. The dream was always the same. She seemed to relive that fateful day over and over again. Her clan nearly wiped out and the rest enslaved by the Nyandarians. She was only but a child then. She woke up startled and rose up quickly from the cot. The days grew shorter and Winter would be here soon. She had promised Lord Kamaaks that she would complete her studies and set for upon the lands to make her reports. The humans had alot to offer the winged folk. Long coppery locks were brushed back from her angular face. Sapphire eyes looked out from the Tower of Myst. Her journey would carry her far from her home and she had alot to prepare for.

Lord Kamaaks, now old and nearly feeble had made Iandra promise she would venture forth into the human lands and learn from them. He had no real idea the dangers he might be inflicting upon her now. Loyality however overtook any fear she had held onto and agreed to it. Her own people would scoff and laugh at her if they knew the fear she hid. They were a proud and noble race. Some very warlike. She however geared toward art and philosophy. Art was a passion to her and her talents were well known. Lord Kamaaks even said she could make her way in the human world using such talents.

The day came when she was to go and had to say her goodbyes to her own adoptive family. Lord Kamaaks had been kind to her and took her into his home along with his wife and other children. They were her brother and sisters now since her own family died in the war. Tears however were held in check. She would not cry, not in front of them. She hugged the mother and father she grew to love and then the others. Her personal items stuffed in the statchel along with her tablet and charcoal. Without looking behind her, Iandra stepped out of the Tower of Myst and began her journey into the unknown world of mortal man.
I love quotations because it is a joy to find thoughts one might have, beautifully expressed with much authority by someone recognized wiser than oneself.
